Husaberg Announces Two-stroke Models
The new 2011 Husaberg TE250 and TE300 will be the first two-stroke models produced in the 22-year history of the company which once used the slogan “4 Stroke Force”.
Following the company’s racing pedigree, the two new models were designed to be competitive in the World Enduro Championship’s E2 and E3 classes.
At the heart of the new models is the liquid-cooled two-stroke engine, available in 249cc or 293.2 cc displacements. The TE250 and TE300 are equipped with electric start, an exhaust power-valve system and an adjustable ignition, which allows the rider to adapt the engine characteristics to meet the needs of the terrain with the flick of a handlebar-mounted switch. The system offers two ignition curves, a “soft” mode for improved traction and an “aggressive” mode for more power. The engines are paired to a six-speed transmission geared for enduro use, with a Brembo hydraulic clutch.
The TE models are also equipped black-anodized triple clamps, Brembo brakes and 11 liter (2.9 gallon) fuel tanks. Like the rest of Husaberg’s 2011 lineup, the two-strokes will use new closed cartridge upside down WP forks first introduced in the 2010 FX450.
According to Husaberg, the TE250 has a dry weight of 226.8 pounds while the TE300 is slightly heavier at 227.3 pounds.
Husaberg will continue to offer the four-stroke FE390, FE450 and FE570 models, which return in 2011 with the new suspension and strengthened frames.
