HP2 Sport hits the USA

BMWs lightest and most powerful Boxer
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, May. 12, 2008
BMWs new racing boxer, the HP2 Sport, is now available at US Motorrad dealerships.

Billed as the lightest and most powerful Boxer ever made, the HP2 Sport joins its cousins the Enduro and Megamoto in BMWs HP2 line (HP for High performance, 2 for two cylinders).

The HP2 Sport's exhaust runs under the engine and out of the way allowing for better positioning when leaning.
From the aerodynamic carbon fiber fairing to the forged aluminum wheels, the HP2 Sport is made for the track. The engine features double overhead camshafts with drag levers triggering the valves and a new stainless steel exhaust system positioned to keep the lower part of the bike slim that BMW says allows for a better hanging off riding position when tilting around the corners.

Richard Cooper and Brian Barriott each rode the HP2 Sport to fifth and sixth place finishes at its Daytona 200 debut while on the other side of the Atlantic, it won its first endurance competition at the 1,000 KM Hockenheim race. Now you can see the HP2 Sport at your next track day.

The HP2 Sport is available at a retail price of US$25,375.
