Honda Announces 2012 Off-road Models

American Honda announced a number of off-road and dual sport models for 2012.

“Over the years, riding enthusiasts have come to know, appreciate and trust the wide diversity of machines that Honda offers,” says Bill Savino, Honda powersports press manager. “This extensive release of 2012 models serves as a perfect example of how we strive to meet the many needs of today’s riding enthusiasts. This latest new-model release will fulfill the needs of many riders, but I’m excited to add that in addition to these models, we have even more new releases to follow later this year.”

2012 Honda CRF450R

Honda revised the suspension on the 2012 CRF450R motocrosser, offering stiffer fork outer tubes and a new rear shock linkage. Suspension settings for both the front and the back were also revised. According to Honda, the updated suspension system offers a more solid feel on the front while the rear suspension improves tracking and handling.

Other updates include longer, wider foot pegs, premium Dunlop MX51 tires and a new chain roller.

The 2012 Honda CRF450R is expected in American dealerships in July.

2012 Honda CRF250R

The 2012 Honda CRF250R receives a new cylinder head, camshaft and 46mm throttle body which, according to Honda, produces a broader powerband with more low-end and midrange torque than the previous model.

Like the 450, the CRF250R receives a new suspension linkage and updated front and rear suspension settings. The CRF250R also receives the new larger foot pegs and Dunlop MX51 tires as well as new front axle collars.

The 2012 Honda CRF250R will arrive in dealerships in August.

2012 Honda CRF150RB-Expert/CRF150R

Returning to Honda’s lineup for the first time since 2009 is the CRF150R and the CRF150RB-Expert. Honda updated the CRF150R’s engine with a new cylinder head, piston, camshaft and carburetor, promising improved power, torque and driveability across the powerband. The CRF150R also receives updated front and rear suspension settings and updated styling.

The 2012 Honda CRF150R and Honda CRF150RB-Expert will arrive in dealerships in August.

2012 Honda XR650L

Also returning to the Honda lineup is the 2012 XR650L dual sport. The 2012 model receives bold new graphics.

The 2012 Honda XR650L will arrive in dealerships in July.

2012 Honda CRF50F, CRF70F, CRF80F and CRF100F

Honda’s small displacement entry-level off-road bikes are returning unchanged for 2012. The 2012 CRF50F and CRF70F feature low seat heights, lightweight and automatic clutches. The more advanced CRF80F and CRF100F offer manual clutches.
