Australian helmet and apparel manufacturer M2R has been sold to motorcycle accessories company McLeod Accessories, a subsidiary of Repco Corp.

We see huge potential in the brand and will be investing heavily to further invigorate the product line-up and expand our distribution footprint and operations globally, Repco said in a release.

The huge value in the Made to Ride and Made to Race icons and concepts, what M2R actually stands for, will be the foundation upon which we grow the brand with innovative quality products.

M2R will now have its global office in Brisbane, Australia. It will also have an office in California for its North American and South American business, as well as in Zurich and Barcelona for the European markets.

Repco is an automotive aftermarket group that employs 4,800 people, primarily located throughout Australia and New Zealand. The company has annual sales of approximately US$865 million.

Repco plans to roll out its new marketing program progressively over the coming months, and plans to sign additional riders to the brand immediately.

Known primarily as a manufacturer of motocross products, M2R branched out and released a line of street helmets, leather jackets and racing suits, gloves and boots in 2007.

Its 2008 line is expected to launch shortly.
