Motorcycle performance tuner EcUnleashed is offering its services to 2011 Kawasaki ZX-10R owners to circumvent the horsepower restrictions on U.S.-spec models.

American Kawasaki ZX-10R owners are likely already well aware that their new literbikes are at a disadvantage compared to their European counterparts.

As Troy Siahaan explains in Motorcycle.com’s recent shootout between the ZX-10R and the BMW S1000RR, the ECU on American models partially close the secondary butterflies beyond the 12,000 rpm mark to meet sound pollution requirements. As illustrated in the dyno chart from the shootout, the Kawasaki ZX-10R begins to tail off after 12,000rpm.

Thanks to restrictions on its ECU, the 2011 Kawasaki ZX-10R begins to lose power at around 12,000rpm.

EcUnleashed can reprogram the fuel and ignition maps in the ZX-10R’s ECU to get around these restrictions, claiming an improvement of 15hp at the rear wheel.
