Ducati gives away 5,000 back protectors

Dainese Wave protector for every new customer in Europe
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, May. 08, 2009
Ducati has distributed over 5,000 free back protectors to customers in Europe.

The Italian manufacturer began a safety campaign at the 2008 Intermot bike show in Cologne, Germany in October. Ducati gave a free Dainese back protector to every new customer in Europe over the last seven months.

Ducatis safety initiative is aimed to remind bikers about road safety and encourage the use of proper riding gear.

Ducati's free back protector program is just part of the company's motorcycle safety initiatives.

The Dainese Wave back protector promises CE level 1 impact performance. The outside of the protector is covered with six polypropylene plates that articulate to follow the movement of the back. The inside is aluminum designed in a honeycomb structure.

Ducati has also signed the European Road Safety Charter supporting the European Unions goal of reducing the number of fatal traffic accidents to 50% by 2010.
