Pegasusraceteam.com claimed the first race win for the Erik Buell Racing 1190RR in the bike’s debut.

Rider Harald Kitsch swept both races, April 17-18 at Germany’s Eurospeedway circuit for the first round of the European Sound of Thunder Championship Twins class. Kitsch won one race by three and a half seconds.

The competition wasn’t as high as anticipated however, as many teams in the series’ Twins class did not take part in the round. Event organizers did choose to race the Twins class on the track with a pair of Superbike classes, giving the new Buell a chance to compare itself to inline four racebikes. The 1190RR put in a strong showing, setting the fastest lap time across all classes.

Harald Kitsch and the Erik Buell Racing 1190RR set the fastest lap across all classes at an event in Germany.

“It was an exciting weekend because we did not for sure know where we were standing in relation to the competitors with the new EBR Superbike piloted by Harald Kitsch,” says Thomas Wanner, team owner. “But in practice it quickly was clear that the 1190RR package will be hard to beat. Because of the early date and bad weather forecast many V-Twin teams did not show up at this event, so race promoter Art-motor decided to start the Sound of Thunder together with Superbike open and the Superbike B, a welcome chance for the team to see where the bike would stand in relation to the inline fours.”
