BMW Contributes to Earthquake Relief

The BMW Group, which includes the German company’s automobile and motorcycle divisions, Husqvarna, Mini and Rolls-Royce, has pledged 1 million euro (US1.4 million) in emergency aid.
Half of the donation will go to the Japanese Red Cross to help with emergency aid and reconstruction while the other half will benefit international non-profit organization Save the Children for treatment of traumatized children in Japan.
“We are deeply moved by the horrific suffering in the affected regions,” says Dr. Norbert Reithofer, chairman of the board of management of BMW AG. “During this difficult time, our thoughts and sympathies are with the Japanese people.”
BMW has also provided its approximate 800 employees and their families in Japan with the opportunity to return to Japan following the March 11 disaster.
