Aprilia RSV4 Biaggi Replica unveiled

$64,000 for 200 hp WSBK-spec track bike
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, May. 10, 2010
Aprilia announced a new track-only Max Biaggi replica RSV4 at the World Superbike Championship round in Monza, Italy.

The Aprilia RSV4 Biaggi Replica is loaded with upgrades over the production street bike, enough so that Aprilia says the replica meets FIM regulations and can be used as an entry-level WSBK race machine. With an impeccable sense of timing, Biaggi demonstrated the RSV4s potential by winning both races of the Monza round.

According to Aprilia, the Replicas 65 degree V4 engine puts out 200 hp, about 20 hp higher than the street version, and 92.2 ft-lb. of torque, compared to the regular versions 84.8 ft-lb. The engine is paired to an extractable six gear transmission with a multi-disk oil bath clutch with a mechanical anti-skipping system. The RSV4 Biaggi Replica is equipped with Aprilias ride-by-wire throttle control system.

QuickShift assisted shifting allows the selecting of gears without easing the throttle. An Akrapovich 4-2-1 titanium sport exhaust with a carbon and titanium silencer adds to the performance, while an Aprilia Racing digital APX on-board computer manages the electronics.

A carbon fiber fairing makes the RSV4 Biaggi Replica lighter than its street-legal siblings, claiming a dry weight of 385.8 lb., compared to the RSV4 Rs 405.6 lb. and the RSV4 Factorys 395 lb.

The Replica comes with carbon fiber bodywork and an Akrapovic sport exhaust.
Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes, Pirelli tires and Marchesini forged magnesium alloy wheels contribute to the $64,000 price tag.

Like the RSV4 Factory, the Replica has an adjustable chassis to adapt to the riders needs. The headstock position and angle, engine height, and swingarm pin height are adjustable.

Pressurized gas forks and WSBK-spec TTX36 shock from Ohlins fills the suspension duties while Brembo brakes provide stopping power. The seven-spoke Marchesini forged magnesium alloy wheels are wrapped in radial Pireeli Diablo Superbike tires.

The Replica is available in Biaggis Alitalia Aprilia livery or bare carbon. Aprilia will also set up the Replica to the buyers specifications.

With the RSV4 Biaggi Replica we offer the sports enthusiast a motorcycle which is as close as you can get to the RSV4 that Max rides on the track in World Superbike, says Gigi Dalllgna, technical and sport manager of Aprilia Racing. In this project, which was developed in parallel to our re-entry into SBK, we poured out all of our knowledge and years of experience on tracks all over the world. This is the bike which came out of it, conceived and developed within Aprilia Racing to offer unique sensations to the shrewd user.

At 50,000 euros (US$64,142), the RSV4 Biaggi Replica is almost triple the price of the RSV4 Factory, and almost up to the Ducati Desmosedici RRs level.
