Triumph celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Bonneville with a limited edition version of the iconic motorcycle.

The Triumph Bonneville T100 50th Anniversary comes in a special two-tone Meriden Blue and Exotic Orange scheme with hand-painted gold pinstripes to echo the classic ‘Tangerine Dream’ livery of the original 1959 Bonneville.

The original Bonneville, named after the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah where the bike set a motorcycle speed record, was introduced at the 1958 Earl’s Court show in London, England. Over the last half-century, the Bonneville became a Hollywood icon linked to famous Tinseltown legends from Steve McQueen and Marlon Brando to George Clooney and Nicolas Cage.

Triumph designed the anniversary edition Bonneville (left) after the 1959 original (right).Based on the standard 2009 Bonneville T100, the anniversary edition runs on an 865cc fuel-injected, air-cooled parallel-twin that Triumph says can produce 66 hp. The special anniversary Bonneville also has a unique seat with white piping and gold Triumph logo, a chromed cam cover and anniversary logos on the side panels.

Triumph will produce only 650 Anniversary bikes, each numbered on a brass plate on the handlebar clamp. Each bike will come with a certificate of authenticity signed by Triumph Motorcycles Ltd. owner John Bloor.

The Triumph Bonneville T100 50th Anniversary retails for $9,999.

Also marking the anniversary of the Bonneville, the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum is holding a raffle with the lucky winner receiving the #41 anniversary bike and a fully restored 1959 pre-unit Bonneville T120.

The restored T120 was assembled by Jaye Strait of Britech New England, Inc. using refinished original or old stock parts. Together, the two Bonnevilles are valued at $35,000. Tickets are available at for $5 each, or five for $20. The winner will be chosen in a random draw at the 2009 AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days at the Mid-Ohio Sports Course in Lexington, Ohio.
