AMA Vance & Hines XR1200 series preview

Inaugural Race to be Held June 4 - 6 at Historic Venue in Elkhart Lake, Wis.
By Press Release, May. 28, 2010
The inaugural AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Series motorcycle race will take place at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin's Road America, June 4-6, 2010. This new spec series featuring Vance & Hines modified Harley-Davidson XR1200 motorcycles will once again provide Harley-Davidson enthusiasts the opportunity to race the iconic brand in a road racing format under the halo of an AMA Pro Road Racing event.

The first team to post an entry for the new spec motorcycle class is the Richie Morris Racing Bruce Rossmeyer Daytona Racing team. AMA Pro National Guard American SuperBike rider Jake Holden will be leading the No. 3 team with valuable support from the team's successful sponsorship group, GEICO Powersports, Lucas Oil and Revolution Performance.

The Richie Morris Racing Bruce Rossmeyer Daytona Racing partnership is returning to the track following their successful 2009 AMA Pro Daytona SportBike Championship season with Danny Eslick and in celebration of that historic achievement, Eslick will be riding the No. 9 GEICO Powersports Lucas Oil Revolution Performance Harley-Davidson XR1200 at Road America.

Showing their strong support for the new Harley-Davidson spec series, the Richie Morris Bruce Rossmeyer Daytona Racing team has entered two additional Vance & Hines modified Harley-Davidson XR1200's which will be ridden by Kyle Wyman and Joseph Rozynski, both with support from GEICO Powersports, Lucas Oil and Revolution Performance. Each rider will also feature their own personal sponsors, in Kyle Wyman's case, he brings support from Harv's Harley-Davidson and he joins his brother Travis in the field, who will be riding his own No. 24 Harv's Harley-Davidson Racing XR1200 entry.

Wisconsin is the home of Harley-Davidson and the Badger state will be strongly represented by three Wisconsin riders. Hailing from nearby Sheboygan Falls, Shawn Conrad will be riding his No. 7 WFO Racing Falls Tap XR1200. Two other riders will be competing with Shawn for best in state honors, Aaron Frank lives in Milwaukee and will be on the No. 72 Team MS Racing Harley-Davidson XR1200 entry and Waukesha resident Paul James will be riding his James Gang-Hoban Brothers Racing Harley-Davidson. It should be fun to watch the race within a race as these riders take their shot at winning the inaugural race in Harley-Davidson's home state!

AMA Pro Road Racing veteran John Ashmead has made a number of starts in AMA Pro Racing since 2002 and joins the Vance & Hines XR1200 Series after making at least one start every year in a number of different classes such as Formula Xtreme, American SuperBike and most recently Daytona SportBike in 2009.

Regular AMA Pro SuperSport competitor Eric Stump will also be competing at Road America on the Jones Brothers XR1200. Stump has won the SunTrust Improve Your Position Award on three occasions this year in the ultra-competitive SuperSport division this year and he should shine in this exciting new AMA Pro Racing Vance & Hines XR1200 Series.

As the momentum builds in this exciting new series, there will be more riders joining the series. The AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Series will be a great entry point for road racers looking to compete on great road racing venues with one of the world's greatest names in motorcycling, Harley-Davidson.
