A reinterpretation of the iconic ‘Vespino’ (Italian for ‘wasp’) scooters from the 1960s and 1970s, the new 150cc scooter sports a minimalist retro look.
The Vespa S features a rectangular headlight inspired by the 50 Special and the trademark chrome trim and front shield for a classic appearance
Underneath the design features, the Vespa S runs on a 150cc single-cylinder, four-stroke engine producing a top speed of 59 miles per hour. With gas prices hitting a record US$109 a barrel this week, riders will appreciate the efficient 90 miles per gallon Vespa S on its 2.3 gallon fuel tank.
The 11-inch front and 10-inch rear wheels feature alloy rims and tubeless tires. The braking system combines a 200 mm stainless steel front disc with a 100 mm rear drum.
The 2008 Vespa S has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of US$4,099 and is available in Dragon Red, Shiny Black and Optic White, with a selection of graphic kits.
