New Model Preview

Piaggio is celebrating its 140th birthday with the release of a special edition Vespa that may prove to be the one of its most exclusive models ever. Based on the Vespa GTV, the Vespa 140th of Piaggio is limited to a maximum of 140 units, and will only be available for sale for four days, and only in select markets (those of us in North America are unfortunately out of luck).

Aprilia has revealed new special edition liveries for the RSV4 Factory and Tuono V4 Factory recognizing the RSV4’s first World Superbike Championship race win in 2009.

Indian announced a fully-revamped Scout lineup, led by an all-new 101 Scout model. The new 2025 Indian Scout range features a new frame and a new 1,250cc liquid-cooled V-Twin engine, making for the first full-scale revamp of the line since Polaris relaunched Indian.

Triumph revealed a new special edition Trident 660 that pays tribute to the “Slippery Sam” Trident that won five consecutive Isle of Man TT races through the ’70s.

LiveWire officially announced the new S2 Mulholland, its third electric motorcycle and second to make use of the S2 Arrow platform behind the S2 Del Mar. Described as a performance cruiser, the S2 Mulholland is available now at retailers in the U.S. for $15,999, and Canada for CA$21,999.

As we were first to report, Harley-Davidson’s electric brand LiveWire is preparing to launch its next model, to be called the S2 Mulholland, with new teasers confirming the model name and a full reveal to come March 21.

Husqvarna released preliminary details on a new Svartpilen 801 model, including footage of a prototype tearing it up in the dirt … and on ice. Husqvarna plays up the dirt oval and ice track riding as part of the Svartpilen 801’s “extensive testing process,” but let’s not kid ourselves. Husqvarna did this because it looks cool.

KTM and tuning house Brabus have been working together for several years now, producing limited edition 1300 R models based on the 1290 Super Duke R. With KTM now introducing a 1390 Super Duke R EVO, it makes sense if the collaboration continues with the new platform.

Along with the new Hydra-Glide Revival Icons model, Harley-Davidson announced this year’s additions to its Enthusiast Collection with the Low Rider ST, Ultra Limited, and Tri Glide Ultra getting a special edition Tobacco Fade color.

Harley-Davidson officially announced the latest edition to its Icons collection with the new FLI Hydra-Glide Revival. As with past Icons models, the Hydra-Glide Revival draws inspiration from a model from Harley-Davidson’s long history, in this case, the Hydra-Glide that first introduced a telescopic front suspension to the brand 75 years ago.

Motorcycle.com can confirm that Indian is preparing liquid-cooled versions of the Roadmaster and Chieftain for 2025, possibly using a new 1,834cc (112ci) version of the PowerPlus engine that currently powers the Challenger and Pursuit models.

Following on the heels of the FTR x 100% R Carbon, Indian announced another limited edition FTR 1200 model, this time collaborating with longtime partner Roland Sands Design and inspired by its Super Hooligan racing series. Only 300 individually-numbered units will be produced, with pricing starting at $18,499.

Last month, we broke the news that Harley-Davidson was preparing a bike called the Hydra-Glide Revival as its 2024 Icon model. All we knew at the time was the model name, and the fact it was certified by an executive order from the California Air Resources Board with the Milwaukee-Eight 114 engine alongside several Harley-Davidson Softail models. We now have further details about the Hydra-Glide Revival, including its model designation FLI.

Triumph announced updates to its Tiger 1200 line, introducing minor updates that further refine the brand’s largest adventure models. The 2024 Tiger 1200 line will again be offered in four variants: the GT Pro, GT Explorer, Rally Pro, and Rally Explorer, with them all getting the same updates in most of the world.

Unfortunately, that’s not true for North America. Bear with me as this may get a bit confusing:

American Honda announced the updated Africa Twin and Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES are returning to the U.S. for 2024. Both models, conspicuously missing from the 2023 lineup, return with updates previously announced for Europe last October.

Indian officially revealed the latest edition to its premium Elite collection, the 2024 Roadmaster Elite. Limited to a run of just 350 motorcycles, the 2024 Indian Roadmaster Elite comes in a custom paint job and numerous top tier accessories, with pricing starting at $41,999.

Kawasaki announced it is bringing its Ninja 7 and Z7 Hybrid models to the U.S., bringing the world’s first mass-produced “strong hybrid” motorcycles to America. Both models are available immediately at American Kawasaki dealerships, each priced at $12,499.

Harley-Davidson announced the new 2024 Road Glide and Street Glide, updating the baggers with features that debuted on the 2023 CVO models. The Street Glide and Road Glide will only be offered in the standard and CVO versions, with no Specials for 2024.

Confirming our initial report, Harley-Davidson announced a new CVO Pan America as part of its 2024 range, adding an adventure model to its high-end Custom Vehicle Operations lineup for the first time.

It took a couple of months after they were first announced internationally, but the 2024 BMW F 800 GS, F 900 GS, and F 900 GS Adventure have now been confirmed for the U.S. market. The three middleweight adventure bikes are replacing the previous F 750/850 models, and offering a smaller-displacement alternative to the flagship R 1300 GS.

Moto Guzzi is paying homage to its official owner’s club with a special edition version of the V7 Stone. Presented at the Motor Bike Expo in Verona, the V7 Stone Ten recognizes the tenth anniversary of the founding of The Clan, the official community of passionate Guzzisti.

With KTM announcing updates to its small-displacement Dukes for 2024, we thought it was only a matter of time until we saw similar changes coming to Husqvarna’s Svartpilen and Vitpilen models. We didn’t have too long to wait, as today, Husqvarna confirmed the updates to the 2024 Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401.

Harley-Davidson is expected to announce more new 2024 models on Jan. 24, including some CVO models, but Motorcycle.com can confirm that the Pan America will be one of the models receiving the Custom Vehicle Operations treatment.

With the exception of the Road Glide Limited, none of the other Road Glide and Street Glide variants have been confirmed as yet. Considering the significant updates to the 2023 CVO Road Glide and CVO Street Glide (which earned them the runner-up nod for our Motorcycle of the Year MOBOs), it’s a no-brainer to expect some of those changes to trickle down to the non-CVO models. Indeed, Harley-Davidson released a teaser image for its Jan. 24 announcement, showing three models and the tagline “The Dawn of a New Era”. Two of the models are equipped with the new Road Glide and Street Glide fairings with the integrated lighting. The image of the Road Glide has relatively basic-looking mirrors compared to the CVO Road Glide, so very likely the teaser shows the non-CVO Street Glide and Road Glide.

Manufacturers typically don’t like it when new models are leaked before they are formally announced. We’ve got a feeling Indian will like this even less, as Motorcycle.com can confirm a 2024 Roadmaster Elite model is on the way… because it’s already being recalled.

After gracing us with a Lamborghini edition Streetfigther V4 last year, Ducati announced another limited edition model that ties in with a member of the extended Volkswagen Group family. The new Ducati Diavel for Bentley will have a limited production run of 500 models plus an additional 50 examples reserved for Bentley customers.

After slowly dripping us information over the last few months and previewing the bike at the SuperMotocross World Championship finale in Los Angeles, Triumph has released full details about its new motocross bike, including its name: the TF 250-X. A TF 450-X model will follow next year, along with a range of Enduro models.

Shipments of the Livewire S2 Del Mar should now be underway, and not a moment too soon, as Harley-Davidson’s electric brand needs to start gaining momentum after a very disappointing 2023. While we wait to see how the brand’s second model does, Motorcycle.com can exclusively report that Livewire’s next model will be called the Mulholland, and it will share the S2 platform introduced on the Del Mar.

The R 12 cruiser has a steel tank in the blockier “toaster tank” design reminiscent of ’70s-era /5 models, and the side covers are unbadged. The R 12 comes standard with a solo seat and a rear fender. The seating position is more relaxed, with wider handlebars than the R 12 nineT.

Italian marque Gilera is poised to return as a joint-venture between the brand’s owner, Piaggio, and its long-standing Chinese partner, Zongshen. We’ve uncovered evidence of Gilera’s imminent return via design filings registered in China for a rebadged version of the Aprilia Shiver labeled with the name “GLR900”.

KTM announced the return of the touring supermoto to North America with the new 890 SMT. Originally announced for other markets for 2023, the new SMT will arrive in dealerships in the United States and Canada in December as a 2024 model. Pricing remains to be announced.

KTM North America announced it is bringing the updated 390 Duke and 250 Duke to the U.S. and Canada, bolstering its naked lineup for these markets. Both Singles were announced in other markets over the summer, along with an updated 125 Duke, but it’s now official that the 390 and 250 will be coming to North America.

BMW announced minor updates to its R 1250 R, giving the Boxer-engined roadster a full LED headlight, and making some previously optional electronics standard, all while keeping the price unchanged at $14,995.

Honda revamped its 500 series models, including a restyled adventure model with a new retro-inspired name. Along with a CB500 Hornet and a CBR500R comes the new 2024 NX500, which replaces the CB500X.

At EICMA 2023, Ducati celebrated the 30th birthday of its iconic 916 in the only way Ducati knows how – with a limited edition model. Say hello to the Panigale V4 SP2 30° Anniversario 916. Only 500 of these will be made, with each receiving a numbered plate on the triple clamp.

Honda announced a number of evolutionary changes to its CBR1000RR-R and CBR1000RR-R SP. The changes include a retuned engine, a new 2-motor throttle-by-wire system, new aerodynamics, a revised frame, new suspension and brakes, and updated electronics. So, basically everything short of adding yet another “R” to its name.

Keeping with tradition, the 2024 Honda Hornet 1000, like its smaller sibling, will not make it to North American shores for the foreseeable future. That said, the inline-Four CBR-derived 999cc engine should bring a level of performance to the Hornet namesake like no others before it.

Royal Enfield introduced its first ever electric vehicle design concept at the EICMA 2023 today in Milan, Italy, marking a new phase in its 122-year history. The debut of the Royal Enfield Electric Himalayan Testbed signifies the company's commitment to sustainable exploration and represents a speculative vision of a potential Royal Enfield electric adventure tourer.

From the moment we learned the Eliminator would be equipped with a 451cc Twin, we started anticipating when Kawasaki would put the engine on its entry-level Ninja and Z models. To no surprise, the answer is “right away,” with the announcement of the new 2024 Ninja 500 and Z500.

The Stelvio is back

Honda has updated its CB650R and CBR650R, giving the middleweights new styling, a TFT display, and, in an industry first, an optional electronic clutch.

Indian Motorcycle has announced a collaboration with the well-known American motocross brand 100%. They have also unveiled their complete 2024 model year lineup, which include a copious amount of rich color options in approximately one bazillion different models/trims. Most noteworthy is the spicy limited-edition FTR x 100% R Carbon. Additionally, the 2024 lineup introduces a new Indian Challenger Elite and a redesigned PowerBand Audio system, along with minortweaks throughout the entire Indian Motorcycle range.

Suzuki announced a new model to its GSX-S1000 lineup, adding a crossover motorcycle that bridges the gap between a sport-tourer and an adventure bike. We previously uncovered evidence of the bike under its codename GSX-S1000X, and we now know it will be marketed as the GSX-S1000GX. And if that name isn’t already a bit of a tongue-twister, in the U.S. it’ll be called the GSX-S1000GX+.

Forget what you think a middleweight bike should be – KTM doesn’t care. Apparently engine size, like age, is nothing but a number. Hence the new 990 Duke comes to us as an exciting head scratcher. Following in the footsteps of the 790 Duke, which quickly became the 890 before shrinking back to a 790, the all-new 990 Duke (not to be confused with the former 990 Super Duke of the early 2000s) is aimed squarely at brute-forcing its way to the top of the middleweight naked bike hierarchy… by blowing away what it means to even be a middleweight in the first place.
