MV Agusta Teases A New Adventure Bike With The Lucky Explorer Project
MV Agusta is getting back in the adventure bike game with not one, but two new models to be unveiled at EICMA, November 23. Spy shots started circling around the internet recently of what was presumed to be an early prototype of the ADV, but MV has now confirmed the project with today’s press release (copied below).
To historians of MV’s past, the Lucky Explorer logo might look familiar. For those unaware, MV is not totally new to the world of adventure bikes and rallies – kinda. Its parent company Cagiva, then known for owning another Italian marque – Ducati – participated in the famous Dakar rally in the late 1980s with the Elefant. Its primary sponsor? Lucky Strike tobacco, with its signature red dot and gold rim.
Cagiva later famously sold Ducati and adopted MV Agusta as its primary brand. Fast forward to the present day and the popularity of the ADV market has not gone lost on MV. What perfect time, then, to jump back into the fray. Especially when you have history on your side.
No details about either of the two new adventure models were announced in the press release, though MV’s CEO Timur Sardarov has gone on record stating a new 950cc Triple would be used for a future ADV. So there you go. MV has also shared a new website – www.luckyexplorerproject.com – for fans to come together to create a worldwide community around the new bikes. There’s even a special section for a group of chosen Lucky Explorer ambassadors. Here, they can get exclusive updates, content, and offers, and have the chance to invite their friends to also be a part of the project.

And brings back the spirit of the Paris-Dakar and the great African rallies
MV Agusta is pleased to announce the official launch of the Lucky Explorer Project, a multi-faceted initiative aiming at gathering the passionate lovers of #rally raid and off-road #racing around Schiranna’s unforgettable legacy of epic participation and victories in the great African rallies of the golden age. That same spirit of adventure and freedom is the foundation of this ambitious project which will be developed through the www.luckyexplorerproject.com website and @luckyexplorer official Instagram channel, both launching today and that will bring to the unveiling of two new adventure bikes. Both models will be available for online pre-booking from November 23.
Those dreams of unlimited horizons, breathtaking sceneries and speed are unscathed, and live through the stories of men, machines, sweat, sand and scorching sun told on the project’s website and Instagram channel. The site’s architecture will let visitors explore the history and culture of Schiranna and its unforgotten ties with African rallies under different perspectives: races; people; stories from the field; factory tour from the past; old advertisements; videos; memorabilia; new content and events.
The aim is to create a worldwide community of Lucky Explorer enthusiasts, inviting them to actively participate in the project. To this end, a special section of the website is dedicated to the Lucky Explorer ambassadors. The chosen ambassadors will have access to special contents and exclusive previews, and can invite friends to be part of the community as well as receiving regular product updates and the ability to initiate conversations on the Lucky Explorer forum.

Troy's been riding motorcycles and writing about them since 2006, getting his start at Rider Magazine. From there, he moved to Sport Rider Magazine before finally landing at Motorcycle.com in 2011. A lifelong gearhead who didn't fully immerse himself in motorcycles until his teenage years, Troy's interests have always been in technology, performance, and going fast.
