BMW unveiled a new Adventure version of the F850GS, making the middleweight adventure-tourer even better suited for long-distance travel.

The 2019 BMW F850GS Adventure adds a larger, 6-gallon fuel tank which BMW says will take you up to 341 miles on a single fill-up. A larger two-stage adjustable screen provides more protection from the wind and weather while enduro-style footrests, adjustable foot controls, engine protection bars and a stainless steel luggage rack add to the adventure-touring versatility.

The engine is the same 853cc parallel-Twin engine as found on the F850GS, claiming 95 hp at 8250 rpm and 68 lb-ft. at 6250 rpm. The engine is matched with an anti-hopping clutch and six-speed transmission, with a Shift Assistant Pro option for clutchless downshifts.

The F850GSA offers Rain and Road ride modes as standard, as well as ABS and traction control. Cornering ABS Pro and dynamic traction control as well as electronic suspension adjustment (ESA) are available as optional equipment.

As with the regular F850GS, the Adventure moves the fuel tank from under the seat like on the previous F800 models to a more traditional location between the seat and the controls. This was made possible due to a new bridge frame design.

Up front, the F850GS Adventure uses a 43mm inverted fork claiming 9.0-inches of travel. The swingarm is suspended by an adjustable central spring strut offering 8.5 inches of travel.

The stock tires are tubeless enduro-style rubbers, with a 90/90-21 front tire and a 150/70-17 rear tire. BMW also offers a knobbier tire option for more purposeful off-road use.

The front wheel is equipped with dual 305mm discs with a two-piston floating caliper. At the rear is a single 265mm rotor with a single-piston caliper. The ABS can be disabled for off-road use.

Other features include a full LED headlight and a 34.4-inch seat height (a lower seat option and lowered suspension options are also available). An analog tachometer with a multi-function display comes standard, but a 6.5-inch TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity is available.

The 2019 BMW F850GS Adventure will be available in three trim versions, the standard Ice Gray color, the Rallye version in a blue Lupinblau metallic or an Exclusive version in a Gritgrau metallic gray with red highlights.
