Shredding Tires For The Guinness Book Of World Records

On February 29, 2016, the official stunt team for Victory Motorcycles set their sights on an entry in the Guinness Book Of World Records. Given the performance focus of the new, 2017 Victory Octane, the record for the world’s longest burnout seemed like the perfect goal for the 1167cc V-Twin with a nasty attitude. While you or I may think we can outdo this record (a highly dubious thought, but go ahead, if you like), some hurdles other than simply doing a super-long burnout are required. Within the various forms of documenting any record attempt, we think that having the snappily-dressed Guinness representative holding an “Officially Amazing” clipboard witness your effort is the most important component – aside from actually shredding the Octane’s rear tire.

Don’t try this at home. This man is a professional. You can tell by his tools.

In the video below, Victory Motorcycles Stunt Team riders Tony Carbajal and Joe Dryden, whose tire-smoking antics you may remember from last year’s Drift Video, featuring a pair of supercharged baggers (a Cross Country and a Magnum, to be exact). Now, using the Orlando Speed World oval track where Victory would host the Octane world media launch on following day, Dryden rides his essentially stock Octane into the record books. (We know there was a Two Brother’s Racing exhaust system on both bikes featured in the video below.)

The final result was an official record distance of 2.23 miles, besting the previous record by almost a quarter mile. Congratulations, Joe Dryden and Victory Motorcycles on your new record!

      Knowing how hard it is to do an extended rolling burnout (than add in that they are doing it on a banked oval), I find it to be pretty cool.
