Unhappy 1997 yamah virago

hey guys whats up was wondering if anyone can help me i have a 1997 yamaha virago and when i hit the throttle the bike just dies i figured the carbs were dirty so i took them apart cleaned them includeing the jets and when i put it back together now the thing turns on with the choke up high and stays on but when I turn the choke completely off the damn thing just cuts off and dies also every once in a while I touched the carb and it make like a spit noise as if it was air. when the choke is on the bike stays on when choke is off the bike cuts off could use the help thnx guys

Sounds like clogged idle circuit(s).

If you didn't clean the carbs with compressed air and itty-bitty wires, you didn't clean them.

Also, while you're at it, make certain the carb boots are not cracked and are properly installed.

You didn't mention the history of the bike. If it sat for a while, the tank is probably full of mung, and needs to be drained and cleaned. If not, you will promptly re-clog your carbs.
