Nice test, have you noticed the big OEM's moving to undersquare motor configurations lately? Honda has been doing it since the first Cvic, and quite a few new streetbikes I've read the spec sheet on are of the undersquare disposition. That motor rips, sounds un-Earthly. Who won WWII?

Nice write up. I am curious what the average mpg you experienced was though.

While doing a wheelie, I toggled through the trip computer and found it was consuming something-I-don't-remember km per liter. It was Greek to me, so I neglected to remember.

That said, BMW claims better fuel mileage than the K1300GT, a bike that averaged 38.3 mpg under our heavy hands during our 2009 Sport-Touring Shootout. So, under more humane use, I'd guess the K16 should average about 40 mpg.
