![]() Hey Mofos,
Here are a few quick snaps taken from my iPhone in Joshua Tree and Borrego. My GF took some great pics from her camera but she hasn't uploaded them yet. Joshua Tree MobileMe Gallery Borrego Springs (in my truck) MobileMe Gallery |

![]() Hey cool, you even drink decent beer. I order borrego y mas at the local Mexican joint, a nice braised lamb shank, ranch beans, rice and guacamole with a pile of tortillas......wonderful stuff.

![]() The Great American West. There's got to be roads out there where you can wind the BMW up to 120 for an hour at a time...sigh.

Seriously, thanks for sharing the pics. I have never seen the desert bloom like that. Pretty rare, I guess?

It's that Gaddam Global Warning again! Next you know, there'll be the Atlantic all lapping at the foothills of the Eastern Rockies, and everybody will have cooked to death in the 500-degree F Winter Weather.......

![]() The desert bloom this year is pretty awesome. About 3 years ago we had a lot of rain and it was pretty big as well.
This year has been a lot of rain and it has been very cool. It normally tops 100 in mid April. We just had more rain and snow. You can see the peaks in the background. San Gorgonio and San Jacinto are 11,400 and 10,800 feet but usually pretty bare this time of year. |

You get better blooming in a wet year. But the amount of bloom changes because the plants don't bloom each year. Some bloom every year, some every two, three, etc. A few years back we had a 20-year bloom where most of the plants were out. Very impressive.

Maybe a long time ago. Too many cops now. Some areas you can go maybe 30 miles without a lot of worry. Better have a good detector. There are some 80mph "test areas" now. So you can cruise 85 or so without sweating it.
