When my HD got hit, there didn't appear to be any frame damage. About a year later when I did the frame-up rebuild, I found that the downtube had separated at the top. It was well-hidden; I might have ridden that way for years. It did snug things up nicely when it was re-welded.

Speaking of welds, when my friend was doing that job, he looked over the welds done at the factory in '77. He found ends of welding rods sticking out, welds that had barely made a connection, just a piss-poor job all around. He ground many of them down and re-welded them for me.

It's not. There is an obvious deflection in the trellis frame. My bet is they will part it out, or rebuild.

Mine is el perfecto. Took the girl on a nice ride down the beach on VDay. It was a bitter 76 out but we managed.
