I haven't paid attention to Garrison outside of hearing his show when my wife listens to it. What a worthless s***bag. And what a screed of hate-speech.

Well...the F101 was the Republic Thunderchief, also known as the "Thud." Col. Jack Broughton wrote a couple of good books on the air war over N. Vietnam, "Thud Ridge" was one of them. He was a pilot who flew a lot of missions over Hanoi in the 101's. He wrote them in the 1960's and as a result a lot of strategies changed. Good stuff, I'll lend you mine if you're interested.

According to Wiki (FWIW) Rolling Thunder was a bombing campaign designed to weaken N Vietnam's morale and get them to negotiate.

The F-101 was the Voodoo. The F-105 was the Thunderchief, a preeminent runway hog.

I read Thud ridge, but it was about 20 years ago.

I read it too years ago, good book. I guess I got my 101's and 105's mixed up, mea culpa.... By the time I was around frontline aircraft it was F4J Phantom 2's, A7 Corsair's and A6 Intruders. I think the Marines were just phasing over to the Harrier's around that time too and the Navy was trying out the all new F14 Tomcat, in fact I watched the first Tomcat trap on an east coast carrier
