Re: Road Rage and You
I know what you mean. I am always amazed how polite and mannerly people are when I am at the shooting range.

We have to conceal them in Georgia.

Re: Road Rage and You
I wish I was stable enough to act consistently.

Sometimes I blow on by and sometimes not...

Re: Road Rage and You
if you try and f with me I am going to respond and all the other drivers should do the same. Why do we always have to bend to the will of the jerks and ass h.les. Screw them we should all get off our bikes and out of our cars and kick the sh.. out of these stupid jerks. It is not only in cars but everywhere crowds of people are. The jerks run off the good people. I say again we should kick their punk asses. I have seen my own wife and kids react to other drivers with the finger. I really get pissed off at them. I know they would never do this if they were standing in line with someone because they would be scared the other person would kick their butts. But in a car they feel this is just fine. I have three daughters. A smalll girl flipping off a biker or trucker? Even I don't get it. I guess they feel it's does no harm. I tell them they are wrong and if I ever see this behavior I will kick their butts. Am I wrong or am I right? Hell if I know.

Re: Road Rage and You
Is lane-splitting Harley's considered an act of aggression?

I can never tell if they're chasing me or not

Re: Road Rage and You
I think it would insure the potential rager will not stop and confront you (unless he's carrying too) - he'll probably go directly to running you over.

Re: OK!
No Gabe I do not put you, or Martin Luther King in the same category as the totalitarian "fascists" that I mentioned. However, Ted Kennedy, Jerry Brown, Rose Bird, and JFK, and G. W. Bush are believers in the power of big government as the tool to mend society's ills. They are also Socialists, and they along with every other person that has looked to a strong central government to shape society are responsible for the rise of the list of nefarious characters that I mentioned. Barry Goldwater once quipped that a government powerful enough to give you everything that you want is also powerful enough to take everything that you have. True conservatives eschew a strong centralized government for that very reason. BTW the list of rouges that I made up should also include Woodrow Wilson, FDR, Harry Truman, JFK, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, G. H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and our current leader du jour. all of whom are responsible for the deaths of thousands. I for one am happy to be outside of the mainstream that H. L. Mencken described as the "Great Boobacracy" or "Boobus Americanus." I am well read in both American, and world history, which is why my opinions are outside of the dumbed down "popular opinion." If you are at all familiar with the works of George Orwell, you should understand the principals of "newspeak." When you refer to the current Republican regime as the "conservative right" bear in mind that you are practicing "double think" and you are in full compliance with "good thinking".

Re: Road Rage and You
I've ridden for 52yrs and I've never had a problem with "road rage" - mine or anyone else's. I never take another drivers action personally, it's 100:1 it's inattention rather than malice.

I don't doubt road rage happens, but I think it's mainly an over hyped excuse for more "calming measures", like lower speed limits, stop light cameras, speed bumps, and more radar traps.

Re: Twisting words and shrill repetition of worst-case scenarios
David, I don't think that seruzawa is railing against methylphenidate for the treatment of ADHD. I do believe however that he has a problem with the state forcing this drug on children despite the protestations of their parents. Implying that someone is one of those Scientology weirdoes, for protesting the usurpation of parental rights by the state, is certainly beneath a person of your obvious erudition.

Excellent Point
I read it once. Thanks for reminding me to read it again..

Be assertive but not agressive.
When I used to commute I found the safest way to get to work was assertive riding i.e. Make eye contact, user you hand and finger to tell people you are merging, etc. The only time I had problems is when I was tenative. I think it really helps to be on an agile high performance sportbike with good brakes.. Can't imagine fighting traffic on a cruiser.. Seems like you be a sitting duck. An accident waiting to happen.... Most of the freeway accidents I have seen involved cruiser riders...With a sportbike you can accelerate and swerve out of trouble or brake quickly... The whole feet forward riding thing is so passive anyway.. like riding a lazy boy..
