Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas Rescheduled for November

As COVID-19 continues to spread to alarming levels around the world, it’s no surprise to hear that the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas has been postponed until November 15, 2020. The American round will now be the penultimate race of the season ahead of Valencia which has been pushed to November 20-22. This, of course, comes after the first race of the season in Qatar was run without the MotoGP paddock while both Moto3 and Moto2 were able to race due to the riders having already been in the country for testing prior to the first round.

The North American race is the second to be postponed after the Thai GP was also postponed due to health concerns regarding the Coronavirus. As the virus spreads in North America concerns of its impact on the domestic racing series, MotoAmerica, are also becoming more of a reality as states and local governments have begun to place bans on large scale gatherings. Only time will tell.

With the disruption in international flights serving areas that are home to many teams, fans, freight, and competitors, the MotoGP Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas has been postponed until November 15, 2020.

We are glad that there are no cases of the virus in Austin and recognize that the risks of getting sick are very low, however, an international event of this sort presents logistics concerns, travel commitments, and significant advance planning.

All tickets purchased will be valid for the November event. While we greatly appreciated the ongoing support and patronage of the fans, we recognize that some ticket holders may need a refund. COTA will honor any such request.
