#4 – Nicky Hayden’s Desmosedici in his Debut with Ducati

Nicky Hayden wrote his name into the history books by winning the 2006 MotoGP title with Honda, becoming the first American to win the World Championship since Kenny Roberts Jr. in 2000.

Two years later, Hayden joined the Ducati factory team, making his debut at the 2008 post-season test at Valencia on the Desmosedici, Ducati welcomed the Kentucky Kid with a special American flag paint job for his Desmosedici GP9.

Hayden is still with Ducati Corse today and plays an important part in Ducati’s marketing, especially with the U.S. becoming Ducati’s most important market.

Where did you happen to find that picture of the EBR 1190RS? The reason I ask is that it matches a photo I took of it at the races at Road America in June of 2012 and posted on http://www.badweatherbikers.com. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/4062/683137.jpg Not irritated, just thought it was cool seeing something I shot being being spread to the masses.

Got it off a site written in what looked like German. But if you took the picture, I’ll gladly give you credit for it. It’s a great shot.

German? That could potentially be explained by the fact that one of my closest friends (and fellow Buell owner) from Germany had come over for the EBR/Buell Homecoming in 2012 – which the races at Road America are a part of the festivities. I know he and I have shared pics in the past, so perhaps he posted it on the X-BORG forum – essentially the German equivalent of http://www.badweatherbikers.com. There’s no doubt in my mind that I took the original picture, however. Amazing that an aging digital camera – going on 9 years of ownership – can still produce a striking image.

Come on, guys, it’s just a parked motorcycle. Anybody could have taken this with any camera. Show me a shot you took of Bigfoot (the creature, not the truck) and I’ll be impressed.
