Top 10 Modified Honda Groms

Last month, we showed you the RC-X Mini Vintage Racer, a heavily-modified Grom by Honda’s Thai affiliate that transformed the modern monkey bike into a Mike Hailwood-era grand prix racer.

But the RC-X was just one example of the many ways you can modify a Honda Grom – known as the MSX125 in Europe and most of Asia – into something completely different.

To that end, we’ve compiled a list of ten modified Honda Groms. Most of them were created for Honda’s display at the Bangkok Motor Show in Thailand. Let us know which one you like best in the comments.

Duke It Up!

This one was a bit of a cheat, as from what we can tell, it’s just a rendering and not an actual modified MSX125. We included this on our list because we want to see this actually built!

Produced by MSXThai.com, this Honda Grom was transformed into a KTM Duke with the simple addition of an orange frame, two-tone wheels, Akrapovič exhaust and an orange-on-black graphic scheme.

Mini-Monster

When Honda first announced the Grom, some observers said it looked a bit like a tiny Ducati Monster. If you didn’t see the resemblance at first, you might now with the Mini Monster conversion from Thai shop X-Speed.

Unlike the Duke look-a-like in the ten-spot, the Mini Monster MSX125 is actually being made. Additions include a false steel trellis frame, a belly pan, fly screen, undertail exhaust, various red hard parts and a Nicky Hayden tribute red and white graphics.

Dressed for Speed

You may be fooled into thinking this was a tiny Honda CBR sportbike, but underneath the fairings is a Honda MSX125.

Dubbed the MSX125 Sport Spirit, this modified Grom is nearly unrecognizable with the sportbike-style fairing, seat and tail. This one-off was produced by Kwins for Honda Thailand.

I Want to Rock and Roll All Night!

Produced for the Bangkok Motor Show, this Honda Grom received a heavy metal makeover with a lightning and skull motif and studded fork tubes.

Created by Old Style, the MSX125 Rock Star is the kind of Grom we imagine Ozzy Osbourne riding.

Cream and Sugar

Thai builder Udom did a fantastic job transforming the Honda Grom into this MSX125 Café Racer.

Inspired by ’60s British motorcycles, this modified Grom features a bikini fairing, leather seat, low handlebars and a retro color scheme.

Track Star

Likito produced this flat-track-inspired Grom called the MSX125 Super Tracker.

BMX-styled grips, black leather seat are part of the look but we like the number plate with the integrated headlights. The red chain really pops but it doesn’t seem to fit into the rest of the color scheme.

Old School

Continuing with the retro theme, we have cruiser-styled Grom called the MSX125 Old School by Old Style2011.

The Old School features high handlebars, big front wheel – and check out that wrapped exhaust! The sparkly gold and silver paint completes the retro look. This modified Grom was created for Honda’s Bangkok Motor show display but we can’t help but feel the color and graphics have a bit of a Yamaha feel to it.

Classic Honda Tri-Color

There’s no mistaking the Honda red, white and blue colors of this MSX125 Sport Retro by RJ Racing.

The classic HRC colors are accompanied by a brown leather seat and chrome headlight, fender and exhaust.

Ooh, Shiny!

Unlike most of the creations on this list, this chrome Grom was produced not for Thailand, but for the Osaka Motor Show.

The actual amount of modifications are pretty minimal, but the chromed-out look is nothing short of eye-catching.

Vintage Racer

We’ve already written about the RC-X Mini Vintage Racer but how can you not love this homage to Honda’s RC racing bikes of the ’60s.

The RC-X is inspired by the world championship-winning racebikes ridden by legends such as Mike Hailwood and Jim Redman.

    Are you kidding us? !!!
It's a lot of fake junk up there is what it is. Seems like the only thing you had
to do to qualify for this"article" is slap some lipstick on a pig and claim some
resemblance to something else and be in proximity to the Bangkok show. Stock engines, stock rear sets, stock plastics with a paint job, etc... and those are considered heavily modified? Maybe a 'little' custom but not SERIOUSLY modified.

Come on, seems the only REAL thing you had to do was get your faked out repainted or vinyl wrapped "tribute" Grom into the Bangkok show and you qualified for this fake list. Where's the Panigale 1199cc Grom, the Squeezebox Trom (Trail 70), Composimos' Handbuilt Grom, , the CRF450 powered Grom and any of the CBR250r Groms? Those first 3 are absolutely and unquestionably the MOST MODIFIED Groms on the planet today, it's not even close and not a one on the list.

FakeNews? Meet "Fake List". Just so much more click-bait....
