Just Bought Me an 06 Royal Star Deluxe
By Michael (I am an Owner) on Apr 05, 2024I just traded in my Honda Shadow for something bigger and happened upon an 06 Royal Sar Deluxe. She's the Midnight edition with only 13K. She's a beaut. I have only taken a few short rides, but she's got some grunt. I ordered a cheapo windshield, the one which attaches to the handlebars and a driver's ... backpad. I have noticed how smoothly she runs, the get up and go, and it rides better than my old 750cc Shadow. Here's to a summer of riding!

I love my 2006 Royal Star Tour Deluxe
By Roberta Fogg (I am an Owner) on Jul 16, 2023I bought my 2006 in June 2010, with 2200 miles on it. Just returned from a 2 week motorcycle vacation from Northern Maine to Washington DC and Gettysburg PA. I have put just over 30,000 mile's on my bike as of this year. I love this bike, it's my 4th since getting my license in 2006. The only ... issue is how hot the engine gets when in stop and go traffic/traffic jams. I'm looking for accessories, a new passenger backrest with a trunk.

My favorite bike
By (I am an Owner) on Aug 31, 2018I've owned 13 bikes in my 44 years: 11 within the past 6 years. In 2013, I got a new Road Star from my local dealer and owned it about a year before trading on something else. Last year, 2017, I wanted to get another large white bike and came across my Royal Star. I really didn't think I wanted ... a water-cooled cruiser, especially one with carburetors, but every review I read, and every owner I spoke to, said these were awesome bikes. I found my bike with 2,500 miles from the original owner. As I write this review, 13 months after buying the bike, it now has just under 10,000 miles. It is averaging 44+ mpg and has loads of useable power. It's extremely comfortable and fits my 6' frame well. I removed the rear seat and installed a homemade luggage rack. I love riding the thing. It isn't hard to start but it's not an injected motor either so I have to crank it for a couple of seconds but the motor is quiet and torquey and with the carburetors, there is no jerky throttle snatch. The cruise control is very useful and easy to use. It's not a light bike but it handles great and the pounds disappear as the bike gets underway. The mechanic at the dealer said it's one of the best bikes Yamaha ever made and said he can't understand why they stopped producing them (he rides an R1). I'm very satisfied with the bike and love riding and looking at the thing. It's a great bike and does so many things so well - the most important of which is putting a smile on my face.

Finally a bike that makes me look forward to open highways
By (I am an Owner) on Aug 07, 2016I bought this 2006 this spring with 29K miles. It had a Ultimate seat and back rest installed and with the cruise control makes it a real highway machine. I sold a Honda 2003 ST-1300 after I found this bike. Maybe not as much of a sporty ride but by far a much more comfortable ride. Took a bit to ... get used to the change in rider position and balance but after a few hundred miles I know it was a good decision.

The Cadillac of bikes.
By (I am an Owner) on Apr 06, 2013I have been riding for over 40 years and for the last 15 I have solely ridden my Tour Deluxe. I was wounded in the back and legs during the Vietnam era and was afraid that I could never ride again. I can, I do and I love Yamaha. The TDeluxe actually relieves pain in my back and legs. My average ... trips to Yellow Stone and Sturgis averages about 650 miles a day. I have just clocked 31K miles do my own oil change and plugs as recommended and am planning on riding until God takes me home. I love my bike.

WOW!!!
By (I am an Owner) on Jun 30, 2010I bought the bike used with 4500 miles on it... then moved to England! I have ridden the bike over 8000 miles since. I had been looking for a Goldwing but saw this one on the showroom floor... Fell in LOVE with the looks took it for a test drive... LOVED IT!!! So, I took out the credit card and bought ... it... added a driver back rest and sheep skin for the seats and now everyone turns their head and looks... The bike runs beautifully and it is getting about 40 - 45 miles to the gallon If I am diving normal but it will move if you want it too... I have had it to about 110mph twic e but will keep it between 70-80 on trips here in England... (The roads are horrable and need fixing. All I can say is... try it you'll like it!!!

Fuel mileage 06 Tour deluxe
By (I am an Owner) on May 18, 2010To the gentleman who likes his bike with the exception of the Bubb exhaust, I have them on mine and no trouble getting 180-200 miles on a tank of fuel. That will change soon as it is getting a Hannigan trike kit installed.

Love it!!
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 21, 2009I've been riding for for over 30 years. Everything from HD, Honda, Kawasaki, and Yamaha. I bought an 2006 Royal Star Midnight Tour Deluxe over year ago and it is the BEST bike I have ever riden. It's a monster but it rides like a cadilac and manuvers like a smaller bike. The only time it has ... seen the inside of a shop is for oil changes and routine maintanace.

Great on a trip or around town
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 03, 2009I really like the comfort, power and handling of this bike whether on a long trip (1300 miles last month), or a Sunday drive. At low speeds the bike is harder to handle, but over 10 mph the bike handles very well with the high center of gravity. Remove the windshield and the back rest is seconds, ... and you have an all out cruiser that is even more fun to drive. There is no vibration, just the right amout of roar so you're not deaf or numb when done riding. It is really a lot of bike for the money.

still good after 14,000 miles
By (I am an Owner) on Apr 17, 2009I love my bike. I have done some great trips on it. 1 solo 2000 mile trip and a recent 900 mile trip with my wife. I added a CORBIN DUEL TOURING seat with both back rests, a smaller windshield, front light bar and a bubs exhaust system. I would do it all again except for the bubs. I get horrible ... milage. I can go maybe 130 to 140 miles on a tank and that is pushing it to the limit.
It is heavy as hell but smooth as silk . My wife can move around in the back and it's all good. It also starts every time and is quite fast . I think the bubs actually helped with that a good amount.
if i were to do it again, i would get either a harley with a front fairing, or a venture. I am craving that radio and ipod!! but for now, i am very happy with my purchase and look forward to many more long rides on this great bike!!!

Good Bike
By (I am an Owner) on Dec 26, 2008I love my Tour Deluxe.
It's very smooth, and quiet. It carries a large load with no problems. With the air adj front and rear shocks, it is easy to change ride hight with load changes. The factory cruise control is just great. I love this bike.
Now, the drawbacks. It is heavy. However ... the factory crash bars hold the bike up quite well. The bike has far better cornering capabilities than it has ground clearance so you must pay attention to what your doing.
The engine is a V4 with a 5 speed. 5th gear is Very Tall. Great for cruising. If you need to pull 90 to get around a truck, you must use 4th. You can do well over 100 in 4th.
With a V4 1300, a v twin 1600 will still out pull you up an on ramp.
All in all, it's by far the nicest bike i've owned to date. If they through in a 6th gear, it would be perfect.

One mean machine
By (I am an Enthusiast) on Aug 28, 2008This bike is a monster! Not only for the size but also with the sound and everything. It's really smooth though. Best one ever and good value for your money!
