2015 Yamaha Star Bolt R-spec
By (I am an Owner) on Jun 29, 2017After over 50 years of riding motorcycles, mostly of the "high performance" type I came to the realization that I had nothing left to prove, sports bikes were hard on my back, and I wanted to ride something that was simple, reliable and would get me down the road with as little drama as possible ... while still retaining the cachet of being a good-looking motorcycle. I investigated a number of makes an models before settling on a unsold 2015 Yamaha Star Bolt R-Spec. I test rode a number of bikes before settling on the Bolt. Got the Bolt for a very good price since it had been a showroom queen for over a year. Added a minimum amount of accessories: a windshield, engine crash bars, a passenger seat and short sissy-bar. After owning and riding it for a little over 4 months I am think I made a good choice. The Bolt is not perfect. It rides a little rough, it has a very short range between fill-ups (that stylish peanut gas-tank being the culprit), and coming from sport bikes, it is easy to exceed it's ability to maneuver without something hitting the pavement. But, I really enjoy riding it, the bike itself is quite attractive and has drawn favorable comments from a number of bystanders, and to date, it has been quite easy to own. Some would say that the Bolt is merely a clone of the HD Iron 883, and it would be hard to argue with that perspective, but I suspect the build quality of the Bolt is much better, the Bolt is substantially faster than the Sportster, and I suspect will prove to be more reliable. It's not a Harley by any means, but I think it would suit those who want a bike that is similar to a Harley but which offers a better buy for the asking price.

Great bike
By (I am an Owner) on Jan 22, 2017My first 2 wheeler, began my intro to motorcycling with the Can Am Spyder, a first for the MSF staff..lol..I was a little nervous..
At 540 lbs , easy to handle, nimble , now after 8,000 mile she over the last 12 months very reliable..easy to mod out, adding high performance air filter and ... exhaust really improved the throttle response and power, not that' it's needed or that I tap into often, just things you do ...lol
A significant array of parts to personalize are available, not like owning a HD , but the list is large from performance mods to body mods...
Overall a great round the town bike that you can ride at hwy speed, not a 90mph cruiser, but it can certainly get you there quickly...
Unique looking configuration, many compliments, although always asked if it's a HD...lol...
I would recommend it ....
