Great Upgrade!
By (I am an Owner) on Jul 10, 2013Upgraded from an FZ6R. Excellent low-mid range torque. Get many comments as the bike looks just looks mean. May upgrade to FZ09 down the road but the FZ8 has more than enough power when needed.

Cheap Thrills
By (I am an Owner) on Nov 22, 2012I have always loved the naked bikes but stayed away from European brands like Ducati, Triumph, and etc. Now that Yamaha has released a mid-sized standard, I had to buy one. I previously owned Yamaha FZ6 and thought that it lacked low-mid torque.
FZ8 on the other hand has plenty of low-mid ... torque. This bike can go pretty fast when pushed and can offer plenty of g-force and wind resistance against the rider. Definitely not for beginners with twitchy right hand.
I get tired after a long ride because of wind resistance. The saddle is not that comfortable for long rides either. I live on a dirt road and I notice that the shocks and brakes are excellent in handling irregular surfaces. I once met the crew chief for team Ducati that won the Pikes Peak race and he said he approved FZ8 because he believed that Liter bikes are such overkill.
