TT-R 125

Just bought the bike 2 days ago, so I can only give first impressions. I live in eastern Manitoba, wide variety of trails from sand, loose gravel, grass and muskeg; have tried them all, put on about 150 miles, just changed the oil to get rid of the metal filings. Soft sand, loose gravel and soft mu...skeg are pretty hairy with reduced control, but you get that with all makes and models. I have short legs so I bought the 125 so I can put my feet flat on the ground. It took me a full day of riding to get used to the feel of the bike, having my knees up high which is necessary to give you 10 inches clearance and still touch the ground. I'm used to having my knees below me, not in front of me, but it's starting to feel more natural now. I drove all day yesterday on about 3 liters of gas. I opened it up briefly on a piece of pavement; estimate it hit 50 mph easily, but no speedo to verify. Transmission is silky smooth, oil change and filter cleaning are a piece of cake, very easy to service at home. Whisper quiet 4 stroke, more than adequate suspension. I like that there is no battery; will make winter storage easy; shut off gas, run carb dry, drain tank, put it in back of garage and forget about it till spring. Gotta love that Yamaha reliability as well. I'm pushing 60 and still had no trouble spending 5 hours on it yesterday on some of the roughest trails you will encounter.
