Great bike to start or to keep
By (I am an Owner) on Jan 05, 2019I don't know how one of the reviewers could have listed all of the great things that just bike has and does, yet then only give it one star and all categories. It must have been a mistake. Yes it's a great bike to start out with; unless you're short. Then it's a great bike to keep. As for short distances ... only; that is completely untrue. The ride may not be as comfortable with the stock seat, that can certainly be changed out. I've owned my bike for 3 years now. I've racked up almost 50,000 miles. This is my only vehicle. It's taken me long distances with no trouble whatsoever. It's a Japanese bike, and I'm sure it will last a lot longer. I have had the stator repaired (not replaced), and the only thing I've had to replace was the the clutch plates and that was just this year. I'm not easy on my bike. Oil changes are inexpensive, and easily done yourself. Only complaint I would have would be a slight oil leak. this machine keeps on going whether I have put in too much oil or I'm running to little oil. No you're not going to get the same ride you would get with an expensive bike, and you don't get all the bells and whistles that come with them either. However who wants a $400 to $500 a month payment? This is a great little bike. If you're lucky enough to be tall, unlike me is only 4 foot 9 inches, it's still a great bike for a novice to learn to ride. If and when I ever wear this one out, I'll be buying another one without any hesitation. Oh and I would recommend changing out the pipes or something louder stock pipes are just too quiet for safety reasons.

V Star Custom
By (I am an Owner) on Jul 11, 2014Great bike for around town and short distance touring. Low seat height and light weight makes it ideal for shorter riders. Not a high speed cruiser though.

v-star 650 custom
By (I am an Owner) on Feb 04, 2014I own a v-star 650 and I believe that it a great first or second motorcycle to own. It looks great handles very well on the street or on the highway. Is easy to ride and gets 50 miles to a gallon of gas. Great bike to ride to and from work. My work ride is 100 miles round trip and I believe that ... it is the perfect bike to ride to and from work. In closing it is a very reliable, easy handling and has very good performing in an inexpensive package. Great bike for the money.
