good road bike
By (I am an Owner) on May 26, 2015I have a 2012 siverado s that I have been to Colorado and back(2800 miles round) and Tail of the Dragon ( 1525 miles round). I bought it new in 2013 and have put 18,000 miles on it with no problems. It will go with the best any other maker has to offer. It's big enough for the open road and handles ... easily in town and traffic. I had a friend by a used 2007 model and he has had just as good of luck with his as I have had with mine. The silverado s is priced good and affordable and gets good gas milage on the highway. Over all I am well satisfied with my bike and look forward to riding it for many years to come.

First cruiser -- love it.
By (I am an Enthusiast) on Sep 16, 2014I've had a number of different bikes but wanted to get something simple and comfortable. Many of my riding partners had V Stars and Road Stars and I settled on either an ultra-low-mileage used Road Star or a 2012 leftover model. I got the new leftover about 5 months ago (in 2014) and have put on ... about 3,000 miles so far. It's a great bike. Everything fits me well and it feels like "me." I just got that feeling when I sat on it that it should be mine. I average about 40 mpg and it's been totally reliable as I'd expect it to be. The fir and finish is great and the overall quality seems very good. I particularly like the extremely positive shifter and how it securely clunks into gears. I can't recall having missed a shift. It's also nice that since it's a heal and tow shifter that it's large enough for me to actually put my entire size 12 boot on the floorboard between the heel and the toe parts of the shifters -- I can't do this with most heel and toe shifters. The bike seems well thought-out. A couple of things I wish were different: I would really like four-way flashers to be on every bike. And the fifth gear is a very tall gear necessitating prolonged 4th gear use up to about 55 mph. I'd like a shorter 5th gear and possibly a 6th gear for highway. Overall, it's a great bike -- it handles better than my last two bikes -- an XL1200L and a ZG1400 -- probably because it has a lower center of gravity and is more comfortable than either. I also like the simplicity of the air-cooled motor and relative lack of instrumentation.
