I Love my Road Star!
By (I am an Owner) on Jun 08, 2011I bought a new '08 Road Star Silverado S and put 10,000 miles on it over the past 2 years. It is an oustanding bike. It is very comfortable and powerful. Its not a very fast bike. I only got it up to 110 mph or so and that was pushing it. But the torque is excellent. The engine feels like it could ... tow a tank! I cruised at 75 mph everywhere and never had any power issues even when fully loaded for a long trip.
The standard side bags that it comes with look great but they are an odd size. I'd recommend buying the pull-out canvas bags that Yamaha sells. They fit perfectly and will help you pack efficiently. I'd also recommend putting a rear back rest on it. I had it and it made my wife much more comfortable.
Its a great bike and requires virtually no maintenance other than an occasional oil change. Good luck!

Excellent Cruiser !
By (I am an Owner) on Jun 03, 2010I just bought a used 2008 Roadstar Silverado with 9000 miles . It has Yamaha speedstar exhaust ,making it sound like a "potato ,potato, potato " harley :)
and powercommander + K&N Airfilter .
The Motorcycle is powerful and smooth .
well balanced with a very low centre ... of gravity . I am only 5'7" and 155lbs and i can ride it around comfortably .
Removed the hard saddlebags and put leather one's on .

Great Bike
By (I am an Owner) on Aug 25, 2009Always have ridden yamahas (although I have crused around on harleys both big ans small) and the silverado s is an all around great bike. It has awesome amounts of power and good handling. It is extremely comfortable for long rides even with a passanger and still handles amazing for its size. My ... only gripe is that it burns fuel fairly quickly due to its weight and engine size; but its slim proce tag (especially compaired to harleys) makes up for it. I would recommend it to anyone!
