Love it despite the handling
By (I am an Owner) on Jan 10, 2009I just passed the 5000 km mark on my GTV 250. There are a lot of things to love about this scooter. It looks great and I often catch people taking pictures of it or coming over to ask me about it. It goes very well. This new fuel injected motor is much smoother and more powerful than the previous ... carb. 200cc. The front and rear discs do a great job and give you a lot of confidence for quick stops. Ride quality is excellent. This is a heavy scooter and it glides over bumps better than most. My only gripe, and it is quite a serious one, is the handling. It is actually poor. It is not an easy machine to feel connected to nor does it give the impression that it is holding the road well. It has plenty of traction and the power does not get away from you but it is not well balanced. Below 40km/h on a corner it requires actually turning the handlebars to get round. Above 60 km/h it leans around bends fairly well (like a motorcycle would). Between 40 and 60 however there is a very 'strange' zone where it doesn't know how to behave and ends up feeling unstable. Try getting up to 50 km/h, take your left hand off the bar and ease off the throttle, you'll find a terrifying wobble. That's why those nice shiny weights are on the ends of the bars (but they don't work). This bike is designed to look great first and I'm afraid that handling was left to last. You'll love it for every other reason.

I own a 250 gtv ie.....
By (I am an Owner) on Dec 28, 2008First I would like to say that I love my bike. It is pretty fast and turns a lot of heads. My last scooter was a Stella 150 and this one is alot faster. I DID NOT get it for the speed, but for the look. It is VERY reliable. If I had to change anything about the bike would have to be the seat. My ... knees are a little to close up to the front of bike and I am only 5'6".
