The Daytona ABS saved my derrire
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 28, 2016Coming around a mostly visible turn at a 45 green, I suddenly spotted an obstacle in the road. The only option was to grab the brakes which I am normally very good at without the ABS and without locking the wheels. I wasn't completely Expert with my 2014 Daytona at that point, so I grabbed a little ... too much brake, both front and rear. The ABS engaged, I could feel the pulsing, so I held the pulsing all the way to a full stop. Doing 45 mph, I would guess the bike stopped in about 1 1/2 seconds. I could not believe how quickly it stopped. I avoided the obstacle and didn't go out of my lane. I'm just glad no one was following me.
I'm not at all surprised that the Daytona scored five stars in all five categories. I've owned it for two years and 14,000 miles, and it hasn't given me any trouble, except for a gas tank trim piece that I re-glued myself and a warranty claim that Triumph took care of. Triumph exceeded my wildest dreams with this bike. It has out turned every bike I've run against and its performance at Daytona in 2014 where its riders demonstrated they could pull three or four bike lengths in the infield turns on any of the Go Pro Middleweight Competition was why I bought it. Two years later, I am still delighted with the bike and wouldn't trade it for any other bike. The liter bikes don't stand a chance in the twisties.
