2000 Sprint ST

I didn't really know anything about the "new" Triumph until I saw a friends Thunderbird Sport. Loved the looks of that bike and the more I looked into Triumph the more I fell in love with the triple sound, performance, and value. You can get great deals on used bikes, not sure why they d...on't hold their value as mine has been bulletproof. The performance is awesome and I love the looks of my ST. If I had my way I'd also own a Speed or Street Triple. Just all around great bikes. Read Full Review

'01 Sprint ST 955i

Mine isn't an '04 either. But, the '01 is nearly the exact same motorcycle. I have over 13,000 miles on it and couldn't be happier. I have put over 5K on it in the last year. It has been utterly reliable. I have accomplished most of the maintenance myself. It is very stable at all speeds. I a...dded heavier weight fork oil along with a higher volume which reduced the nose dive under braking. I ride every day, regardless of the weather. I like it so much, I bought two!

OK, I have an '03 model, not an '04. But the pulldown went only to '04.



Anyway, I had a Y2K model. Black. first non-Harley I'd owned. I loved that bike. The sound of the Triple at full honk, the comfortable riding position, the look and the 'exclusivity' of owning a British bike.



Then I h...ad an unfortunate meeting with a Subaru on the 'Dragon. Totaled the bike. And the car. When I was healing, I started shopping around for a bike to replace the one I lost.

I looked at all sorts of bikes, but none of them did or promised what my Sprint ST had done. I gave an honest look at every brand, and considered several types of bike. But, I kept coming back to the Sport-Touring design.

When I was ready to buy, the list had shrunk to the Sprint ST, the Yamaha FJR and the BMW R1200ST. I sat-tested the other two. The FJR is a big bike, and reportedly makes a lot of heat. I'm in a hot section of the country, so that put the FJR in the negative column. the BMW seemed like a nice bike, but the price blew me away.

So, I bought an 'Aluminium' Silver Sprint, which came with the hard saddlebags back then.

I love the bike. Can't say anything bad about it, really. I guess if the LOML wanted to ride on the back, it wouldn't be a great choice, but she doesn't.

Great power, handles well, goes a lot faster than I can, and sounds great! I use it to commute and for trips.

The 2002 - 2004 models have a different engine design than the 1999 - 2001 model years. 2005 saw the introduction of the 1050 engine and the redesigned, 'sharper' bodywork. Read Full Review

Another "Great Bike " Note

Absolutely the most fun you can have on the street. Fast, agile, comfy, and bulletproof. I just started riding bigger street bikes again, at 73 yrs. a -- but have owned maybe 20 bikes over 30 years, and wanted a water cooled one for engine longevity. This bike has all that I expected and more. I ...have heard of some doing over 160k and still running well. That's reliablility with the great looks and it's British.

I got my 2001 995st after the original owner totalled it at 12k miles, and I got it at 19k miles. In the repair process, they replaced everything with a speck of damage, then road tested several times. The ins. Co's do total everything over XX percent of cost, even for just fairing and fork damage cause they are too lazy to bother with minor problems. Bags removed for a re-paint.

That's fine with me, got all new parts, a repair shop warranty, and got the bike for way less than otherwise. Solid as a rock at over 100 mph. is good enough for me. Would buy another, just because !!
