Just Purchased Two Weeks Ago....
By (I am an Owner) on Nov 15, 2013After 40+ years of riding motorcycles, hand issues made clutch pulling problematic. I read many reviews before I decided on the 650 Burgman.
It has 11,500 miles on it and in my two weeks riding have found it a blast to ride! It handles as a much lighter bike even though it's some 550 lbs. ... The CVT is smooth and seamless and I often find myself over the legal limit because it IS so smooth. It's not a stoplight rocket but acceleration will leave cars and many bikes in your rear view mirrors easily.
I find it rides just as smooth as 75 mph as it does at 30mph and both - effortless. The double binders up front and single in the rear bring the big Burgman to a stop quickly and smoothly.
The only issue is my own: At 5'5", I can't quite put both feet flat on the pavement at a stop.
If you're looking for a Super Scooter I certainly suggest this one. I have a ball riding it and find I don't miss the shifting in the least. Tons of storage under the seat and three glove boxes in the dash make it an ideal long weekender. Pack an overnight bag, camera gear if you're inclined and head out Friday. You won't want to come back Sunday. Plenty comfortable for triple digit miles but I don't think I'd want to take it on a 3,000 mile trip - but you could!

New Owner of an 08 650
By (I am an Owner) on Nov 10, 2013After 40+ years of riding motorcycles, hand issues in pulling a clutch lever forced a change to a scooter.
My 2008 650 Burgman has 11,400 miles on it. While I've only put 200 miles on it since I traded, here are my thoughts.
Weighing as much or more than my 800 Boulevard did, it does ... NOT feel that heavy in the least. I've found in traffic handling to be very nimble for something of its' size. Three disc brakes bring it to quick stops no matter what the circumstances. Note: I'm 5'6 with a 29" inseam and can't quite be flatfooted at a stop light.
On the highway - amazing how quickly and easily you get up to speed. More than once I've found myself well above the legal limit and not even aware of it. What a joy to ride in sweeping turns. It honestly handles better than my C50 did - and no shifting.
Storage is amazing under the seat with room for helmet, camera gear, beach towels whatever...Glove boxes in front of you hold gloves, cell phone, tire pressure gauge and other small goodies.
I do like the analog gauges on the 400 Burgman better than the digital read out on the 650 but that's a personal preference.
Good handling and road manners, more than enough power for 75mph cruising, tons of storage....
I wasn't sure how my transition to riding a scooter would be but this is really just a step through motorcycle with a CVT transmission. You will love it.

graduated from Beemers
By (I am an Owner) on Jun 15, 2010I've been riding a motorcycle as my main means of transport for nearly 50 yrs. A couple of yrs. ago I began having knee problems, and last yr bought a low mileage '05 650. What a wonderful bike, perfect 21st Century vehicle. I could use less buttons under my left thumb, but otherwise the bike ... is near perfect; plenty of power, very comfortable, great gas mileage, plenty of storage space, very reliable, lots of fun. I almost never ride by BMW's anymore, I'm afraid the Burgman has spoiled me.

Suzuki 650 09
By (I am an Owner) on Feb 02, 2009After many years of Goldwing riding I recently purchased a Burgi 09 model. It is a comfortable ride with many extras included that you would normally pay for with other makes. Here "down under" long distance travel is no problems for this bike and can keep up with sports bikes as the need arises. ... These are not really scooters in the true sense of the word rather than step thru motor bikes. My partner loves the seat and backrest and smooth suspension.Value for money and as happy as Larry!!

My 2007
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 28, 2008I have a 2007 Exec model Burgman. It has traveled from Atlanta to the Canadian border, and of course all around the GA, TN, NC area. It is very comfortable on the long trips, much more so than my Honda Silverwing (I also have one of these). It is not quite as flickable as the Silverwing, but has ... more power and stability. I have only one negative comment. When releasing the throttle to decelerate, as your speed gets to around 20mph you are grabbed by a very strong deceleration making it tough to maneuver at low speeds. I have added a Givi box to both bikes and would recommend this to increase carrying space. I really like my Burgman and have plans to keep it until I can't ride.
