  • I am actually happy to ride a scooter?!
By  (I am an Owner) on Aug 15, 2014

I have raced competitive motocross and have owned dozens of street bikes. Actually, my 'other' street bike is a very modified 2nd Gen VMAX that runs the 1/4 in under 9 seconds. Having said that, it should be clear that I'm really not a 'scooter' type of person. I have to admit, this Burgman 650 ...

The three words that best describe this bike are "smooth and comfortable". Whether I'm making quick trips to the grocery, hardware store or going on a 300 mile all day ride with other riders who insist on running 80 mph, the Burgman 650 is up to the task. The large wide seat eliminates anyone from being "saddle sore" except those who have never ridden. Even then, the passenger seat is so comfortable that I had a passenger ride with me (her first time on a bike) for 200 miles and she was never sore and even commented that she nearly fell asleep on the rear!

If you can get past Harley guys feeling obligated to try to make fun of you for riding a scooter (as they are working on their Harley), then this is a bike to consider. It's nimble and easy to ride in town, obviously, but it also easily runs at 80 - 90 mph on interstates with a passenger all day long without any issues. I only have 4500 miles on mine, but one of my "converts" has made several cross country trips and now has 45,000 miles on his without any issues.

As others have mentioned, I seem to average around 50-55 mpg tank after tank and all I've ever done is regular maintenance on the bike. It is comfortable, reliable and has plenty of storage without any additional storage add-ons. IMHO, this is a winner. I only gave it 4 stars on performance because, although not slow, I feel Suzuki has de-tuned this bike a bit. I haven't checked for aftermarket tuners, but I feel it could easily be quicker for a twin cylinder 650 bike. But, if I want to go really go fast, I just ride my other motorcycle.

  • Rear Wheel Defect for 2006 Suzuki Burgman 650
By  (I am an Owner) on Mar 26, 2011

The rear wheel bearings for the 2006 Suzuki Burgman 650 has one bearing and is sealed on only one side. This is a very cheap and unreliable design.

I've put 43000 miles on my 2006 Suzuki Burgman 650 and had gone thru 2 sets of rear wheel bearings already. As a matter-of-fact, when they were ...

Now Suzuki has gone to a new supplier for the part and it's sealed on both sides. Too little too late, because they saved themselves 25 cents in manufacturing cost the customer loses $700.

I don't recommend Suzuki at all. They cut too many corners and use cheap parts.

  • Cool Quiet and Comfortable
By  (I am an Owner) on Sep 21, 2010

Like the other Burgman 650 owners, I love this maxi-scooter. It is more of a motorcycle with a step thru frame and automatic transmission.

Unlike a typical scooter, the motor is not mounted on the swing arm and there is no CVT belt drive.

Since I live in Texas, the ...

  • Burgman 650, There is no substitute!
By  (I am an Owner) on May 08, 2010

I've been riding motorcycles since the age of 15. I'm 59 and a half, now. I've ridden every bike you can think of, cruzers, bullet bikes and touring bikes. Of all the bikes I've owned, the Burgman 650 takes top billing. It's fast, reliable, manuverable and has excellent braking. It's a cross ...

  • Surprise!
By  (I am an Owner) on May 23, 2009

I am 63 years old and have had more bikes that my years. My bikes included at least 6 Gold Wings.

I purchased my 650 to flip and make a few bucks on, but when I got on it, I was in for the surprise of my life. Very comfortable seating, easy to handle, heavy enough to be road worthy, ...

    Love this bike!
