I LOVE my SV!
By (I am an Owner) on May 13, 2010I recently purchased my 05 SV1000s in March; had an 03 SV650S for three years.
It is the most fun riding motorcycle. It is fast and yet smooth at the same time. I can ride it all day everyday.
I'm told its an acquired taste? People don't know what they're missing and the price tag ... is VERY reasonable.

love it?
By (I am an Owner) on Aug 14, 2009I bought my sv brand new in the start of 2005, i actualy odered the 04 model to get it cheaper? but it turned out to be an 05 model by mistake! i said nothing and only paid 12,000 cash, bargain! and got a heap of new gear to wear real cheap too. i've been riding for about 35 years now and consider ... myself a pretty good rider, i love the sv 1000, it has heaps of grunt' and with me at only 60 odd kilo' makes for a very fun time? no prob lifting the front wheel at 190-220! i had a mate weld up some cans out of 100mm stainlees tube, looks hot and sounds awsome!! the next step is to bolt on a supercharger if anyone can point me in the right direction? or give me any info on who knows where i could get my paws on one? its only got 25 thousand kms on it and is in brand new condition still' it would want to, it lives in my bedroom! where all bikes should live?.

2005 Suzuki SV1000s
By (I am an Owner) on Jun 15, 2009I bought it new in 2005 with the thought that my '96 Intruder 1400 would need to be rebuilt since it was burning quite a bit of oil. Living in So Cal, I couldn't face traffic if not on a bike. I put Yoshi pipes on it, power commander, K&N filter to open it up a bit. Sounds a lot better, now. ... Always had missed shifts going into 5th and 6th. Thought it would wear in, but with 15k, it still needs a double click to get it in gear. I swapped in a factory-pro shift star kit, but it didn't fix the problem, either. I tried HeliBars to make the ride more tolerable. It worked somewhat, but it's not nearly as comfortable for the long haul as my Intruder. I may try the LSL handlebar riser kit to make it more comfortable. The front brakes have squealed since day one, and have a wooden feel to them. I put goodridge stainless steel lines on, which helped the feel a little. I hope that changing to a different pad will help both annoyances. I never liked the oem michelins, so I tried the dunlop road smart which handle much better. I hope to get more mileage out of them, too, but haven't put enough miles(2000)on to tell, yet. The mirrors were not usable to see behind me until I made spacers to mount them out further about 3/4" inch. I hope this info helps other SV owns or potential buyers.
