In spite of all the track monkeys and post hoars, i decided that my first bike was to be a gixxer and i'm glad i ignored the haters. The bike is smooth and easy going when you need it to be and a bat out of hell when the demon in you takes over. I kept it in mode 'C' for about a month until i was co...mfortable. She is the sexiest thing on two wheels and the aftermarket support is excellent. The handling is amazing. Love this bike

I am at about 1200 miles on my 2008 GSXR600 and loving this bike more and more every day. When I first got this bike it was a little bit jumpy on the throttle and overly stiff on the rear suspension, but as the bike has gotten more broken in it is smooth as butter.



The Good:

Compared to allot ...of the other 600s in its class, the gixxer 600 is a little more torquey for a smooth powerband compared to some smaller bikes that struggle in the low rpms and scream in the highs. With ths gixxer you can expect a strong, smooth and consistent powerband in any gear at any rpm. The opposite of this bike would be the R6 which is all top end power and not allot of low end. That is fine if you are on the track, but if you plan on commuting or driving around town I would take the gixxer any day for this reason.
This bike is also pretty comfortable for a sportbike, I am 6' 180 lbs and I fit on it perfectly. I have taken it on long rides with no back or neck pain.
Another nice thing is that the rear seat comes with a plastic rear cowl as well for when you dont have a passenger, most bikes make you buy this aftermarket for fifty bucks or so.

The bad:
The exhaust on this bike is very restrictive and quiet, and since the catalytic is welded to the header, the only way to unlock allot of the bikes power as well as smooth it out a bit is a full exhaust system. A slip on will do almost nothing since it still keeps the catalytic in place. If dont mind a quiet bike and dont plan on modding it then this is probably not a problem for you.
Some people have also had problems with the oxygen sensor and set valve on these bikes which causes the power to cut out for a second then come back on unexpectedly while riding. This can also be avoided with a full exhaust system or power commander to remove the oxygen sensor. But the people that have gotten a defective oxygen sensor have merely had to take it to the dealer for a 20 minute replacement job for free. So not that big of a deal if you are unlucky and get a defective sensor, but still annoying.
Personally I also didn't like the bulky and heavy rear fender/plate holder. But a fender eliminator kit is almost a must on any new bike anyways.

All in all I would definintely reccomend this bike to any new or experienced rider looking for a new sportbike. You will not be dissappointed. For further info visit the forum at www.gixxer.com

Great sportbike for smaller riders

The GSX-R has the lowest seat height of the supersports and is very street-user friendly, so it's been perfect for me. I'm 5'2" and worked myself up from a Ninja250. I had the 2007 CBR600RR, but that extra 1/2" seat height just didn't leave me enough leeway for dips at stops. I'd shaved... the seat but didn't want to lower the bike, so sold it to my husband & got the GSX-R. I LOVE this bike! Very confidence inspiring,and I felt it immediately. I was always killing the CBR getting it into the garage (& my husband does too), but that never happens on the GSX-R, so the throttle is much more forgiving on the GSX-R. Also, there's lots of rain where I live, and it's nice to have the Mode changer to tune it down for wet conditions.

I find the ergos very comfortable, but plan on putting better foam in the seat cause it gets things hurting after 1-2 hours. Just not shaped for a woman's rear; I think ;o).

My bike has the bad oxygen sensor, but Suzuki has been awesome about getting it fixed. I'd still pick this bike again. My dealer ordered this bike with me in mind, & sure enough, I couldn't resist it when I saw & sat on it! I've found it's the perfect bike for me. 08 GSXR 600

LOVE IT! not a single problem with this bike so far, hopefully is stays that way. everything about this bike is great, i ride with a guy who has an R6...he's so mad he didnt get a gsxr! the power band is set lower so it pulls a lot harder off the line than some of the other bikes(especially the R6) ...and the riding position is a little more upright, not so race oriented so its better for the street. i took those big mirrors off, you would not belive how much better it looks!!!! get new mirrors or block offs and a new exhaust and its perfect. I have had this bike for about5 months/ 9000 miles, and still have not one complaint about the setup. I sold my ZX-10 to get this bike, and i dont regret it one bit.
