My first bike - '08 GS500F
By (I am an Owner) on Aug 11, 2013Bought my GS in '12: I was a new rider and didn't want to get a bike so big or too fast that I could kill myself. After learning how to ride on the GS in normal traffic, commuting traffic, highway, and bad rainy weather I thought I should trade it in. Well, I was wrong. This bike has proven itself ... to be reliable, and shows good performance. I live in Tampa, FL and this my daily driver Mon-Fri.
I have made a few changes to it. I changed the handlebar to clip ons (gives it a sportier look); I changed the rear wheel to an'06 Katana & installed a 160/70 tire on it (gives it even more of a sportier look); I lowered the front suspension 2" and raised the rear suspension 3".

Great Bike!
By (I am an Owner) on Nov 25, 2009I bought mine in the spring of 09 and loved it from the start. Excellent comuter bike and not too bad on the highway either. Although i could only stay on it for two hours at a time(the seat needs something more i think). As well probably some jel grips wouldn't hurt either. More than enough ... power to get me movin(6'1 250lbs). Great starter bike but i am ready to upgrade to something a bit smoother on the highway.

Perfect First Bike
By (I am an Owner) on Jan 12, 2009I bought my GS500F in September 2008 brand new, and could not be happier. As a new rider myself, I can say this bike is a perfect fit. It is powerful, but beginners can ride with relative confidence and stability. My only complaint is that it has a bit of a rattle in the lower RPM ranges, but this ... bike will definitely go!

Great little bike!
By (I am an Owner) on Dec 30, 2008As someone who owns a classic 2 stroke RD350, a lighting quick '86 Yamaha Radian, I have not been disappointed with this bike. I bought it brand new ($3995 and no miles!) in May, 2008 and have loved it from the very beginning. It handles super and is a sweet little bike. The only draw back is that ... it's not that quick. The RD and Radian will blister it in the 1/8 mile drags, but top-end, it'll roll just fine. You just have to really run the RPM's up to get it going, but for beginning riders is about perfect. Oh, and at 65mpg, it can't be touched for value.

Very Happy
By (I am an Owner) on Dec 20, 2008I bought a GS 500f this year late in the summer. The list price was $6,800. I got mine for $5,100. (Canada) I love this bike. It is my 9th motorcycle I have always has somewhat small displacement bikes.
I am very happy with the mileage,..it's a lot better than what I thought I would get. The ... performance is excellent and it handles very well. It can cruise nice on the highway at 14o kilometers per hour (80 miles an hour)
LOVE IT!
