More than a starter bike - GS500F

I've had a GS500F going on two years now and it is certainly much more than just a starter bike. I've done some serious miles on my GS and have yet to have a sore "seating area". I regularly average 55 to 60mpg, the handlebars are more upright than "sport bikes", making it more... comfortable and the engine has enough power to take me all over Southern California. I'm not a racer, and I don't suggest this bike if you are, but I've easily maintianed highway speeds and even crossed the 100mph notch. The fairing deflects just enough wind so you're not hanging on and with the added saddle bags and tank bag I have enough storage to go away for a day or two. 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion. Suzuki GS 500F

I purchased the GS 500F as my first bike, and I think it is a great first ride. I purchased it for my 50th birthday.



It has enough power to and performance to get me around the Houston freeways just fine.

I thought about getting a larger bike such as the Boulevard M50, but I figured I can alw...ays move up to a larger bike and did not want to get a bike larger that I could handle.

I really enjoy riding this bike. I am looking for a cruiser too; but I plan on keeping this bike for a long time.

I enjoy the more upright riding position, especially since it is a sport bike. At 50 years old, I do not want to be laying on my tank in a crotch rocket position that often. I am 5’9” tall and the bike fits me just fine. Although a taller rider, might feel a bit cramped with the position of the foot pegs.

In addition, I enjoy the 55 miles per gallon or so that I get. I have had the bike up to 110 mph, and I believe the bike will do about 120 at top speed.

Great Bike for the price

I have owned my GS500F since Fall of '07. I got it at a end of the year price - out the door for under $3700.00. I really like this bike. Is it the fastest, baddest thing out there? No. But take it for what it is...a V-Twin 500 that is a great intro bike at a good price. I think it has a well s...tyled look. The machinery is a solid, time-tested package that handles the road easily. I live in the Hocking Hills of SE Ohio and the GS500F makes my 4 mile commute ALMOST worth going in. My little bike can keep up with all but the most aggresive riders on the tught twistys down here. I would recommend this bike to anyone wanting a fun ride at a decent price. 1st Bike

I got my GS500F in February 2009 as a weekend bike (I needed a hobby). As a first time bike rider I am very happy with my purchase. Bike is easy to handle and gets me up to speed fast when I get on the I-10 but it's not too powerful that it gets me into trouble. I have 500 miles on it so far and n...o complaints.
Another reason for getting the Suzuki was that I have a 30inch inseam and I sat on every bike possible for 5 months after getting my license and this was the best one for bottom comfort and having my two feet flat on the ground.
