Happy owner

Bought the black DRZ-400s in June '09 and quickly racked up 1000 miles. It's not for extended street rides, the seat is square and uncomfortable after an hour or so. I haven't had it off road, too shiny! I drive it around town for errands and to get away for a little while. Great light-weight street... performance, great handeling, 65 mpg, seems very rugged - definitely made for dirt.
On the down side, the engine is very noisy inside, piston slap or cam noise. It sounds like it's going to fail. The dealer says it's normal. You-Tube videos show other owners concerned as well but most say it's normal. No reports of blown engines, just noise.
I give it a 95%, a great bike for commuting or around town. No point loss for comfort, it's a dirtbike made for a good beating, not comfort. The 5% loss is for the engine noise. I think Suzuki could do a better job building a quiet engine.
I cut the dumb extended rear fender off and located the plate higher under the tail light, much better looking now. Read Full Review

Great Bike

Have had the bike about 6 months now but only have 500 miles on it. About 50/50 street/dirt.



Havn't had any problems with it and think its a great bike. Have had a few 40 plus mile Mtn/Dirt rides and rode it very hard. Handles well on the surface streets but would not recommend Freeway riding. It... would need another gear for that. But for around town or back roads its perfect. Read Full Review
