Great Bike!!

Purchase my unit in Nov 2008. Been nothing less than truly impressed by this bike. I was debating between the "9" and a 2008 HD Heritage. After comparing price, technology and performance the "9" was a clear winner. While the bike is big, I prefer big and it handles wonderf...ully once you get her moving. It is a heavy bike but as the man says, "if you gonna pee like a puppy you can't run with the big dogs, so stay on the porch." This bike is powerful, smooth and responsive. If you're weak of heart and just want to putt around then this isn't your bike. But if your looking for a rush, enjoy a companion rider and appreciate knowing you have the power if you want it... then I recommend to Suzuki C109RT!!! Read Full Review

Suzuki C109RT power and the overall ride....

As with may model-year hold overs, I was able to purchase a new 2009 model in 2011. A decent price, and (overall) the bike is excellent. Indeed, it appears to me it's just overbuilt, which is not a bad thing. Still, there are a few quirks with the bike and I suppose you could say that about any mo...torcycle. Anyway, the C109RT is known to have a "lean" condition from the factory, primarily due to the manufacturer's necessity to conform to EPA and other emission-control standards set by Uncle Sam. When considering an Octane of 91 or above is recommended in the fuel tank, a "lean" condition will also contribute to a ping or knock. This can easily be corrected with a fuel-injector controller, although purchasing that piece of plug-in hardware from G-Man Industries or Cobra seems a bit much. It would seem Suzuki could have just re-mapped their Fuel Injection system after a customer's purchase, reducing or eliminating the "lean" condition. Other than that, the bike may need a 4 and one-half inch riser, as an aftermarket purchase, to reduce that long reach to the bars. I can reach mine easily, if sliding forward in the seat. Still, that's not a significant problem and the stock handlebars look great. The stock saddlebags, however, don't look great to me and I'll be purchasing some aftermarket hard bags soon. An aftermarket CASE PROTECTOR or ENGINE GUARD is certainly needed to protect such a heavy bike in the event of a tip-over situation, along with the ability to attach highway pegs for the leg stretching on those long trips. I've always found it unusual that a manufacturer doesn't include a necessary CASE PROTECTOR on a heavy bike such as this one. The great: Brakes are fantastic, and that huge rear tire will allow you to always run straight at incredibly-high speeds. The passing-light button on the left bar is a nice touch, and that 18-LED rear tail/brake light setup will get you noticed when you're at a stop sign or red light. The stock seat is surprisingly comfortable for me, too, and the factory passenger back rest is huge and obviously very well mounted. The bike has very nice floorboards for both the rider and passenger, which is unusual and saves some after-market costs along that line. This is an "overbuilt" bike in my opinion, and no complaints from me other than that "lean" condition. I highly recommend it if you like a BIG and HEAVY bike, and want to break away from the so-called "norm" with heavy touring machines. Read Full Review

Beautiful cruiser - a little clunky in the gearing

For the price, it's the #1 2009 cruiser out there, now coming in at around $11,000 plus t&t and some ridiculous dealer charges (face it; motor vehicle dealers are great at slight of hand and they'll always take back any discount or high trade-in value with some sort of coupon book or prep charge...).

The C109RT in black and red is a real head-turner, but so is the loud shift clunking, especially between first and second gear. And I don't know who wrote the manual...shift up to 5th gear at 30? This think lugs in 5th anytime it's below 40. I'm not sure where these are performance or ride and comfort ratings, but I'll call it performance and leave ride and comfort unscathed.

It's reasonably comfortable, remarkably maneuverable, considering it's nearing 900 pounds and it's got a lot of top end that I'll never use. I was concerned about city driving, but my only fear is of erratic and irrational car and truck drivers; I guess that's par for any course, but ESPECIALLY in Houston!

I thought I'd raise the rating from 42 out of 105, but after what I just wrote, I guess I can't. But I love her just the same and she'll probably be my last (non-scooter) bike, considering I'm 57 and I bought the maximum Suzuki ESP warranty. (That wasn't negotiable - told you - but, at least, they "threw in" - yeah, right - the tire and wheel protection plan.) Read Full Review

Suzuki C109RT

Hi all, i too just bought an 09 left over in 2011. I only have 400km on it, but so far it is fantastic. I owned a V-Max 1200 before this purchase, but it wasnt comfortable on a long ride. Was given an ok deal on it, but didnt get as much as i wanted out of my trade.Like always on a trade, you loose,... and i didnt need two. I like all the accessories it came with, like Fog Lights, back rest, large windshield, saddle bags,and the foot rests instead if just pegs. It has great torque to get you up to speed quick. It is a bit heavy for moving it around,so park in a way you can just drive away. Will add a better review when i get a few more km on it. Very nice bike so far!! Read Full Review
