2011 KTM 990 SMT abs
By (I am an Owner) on Jan 28, 2012This bike has been a total revelation, light and nimble, sporting yet comfortable, at home in the canyons, the Superlab and around town. One of the best 'do it all' bikes out there. I've clocked 13K in five months (mostly on sporting tours or the U.S. West) and it has proven rock-solid.
This ... LC8 engine is an object of wonder, torquey across the entire power band, yet tractable. I ended up selling a Ducati Multistrada (2007 1100S) as the KTM did everything the Duc did, only better.
While the 990 SMT has top-shelf components, the instruments are rudimentary and the OEM saddle was basic. (I replaced with a 'Sargent', along with a number of other improvements.) It is somewhat cold-blooded on cold mornings, continues to use a little oil, but overall it would be the bike I would keep if I only could keep one bike in the garage.
