ER-6n Awesome bike for the buck

I just reached the 600 mile break-in point on my new Kawasaki ER-6n. I'd researched the standard sports for the better part of a year before I settled on this bike. So far, it has not disappointed. The acceleration is fine for what one would expect from a 650 twin engine. The torque on the low end o...f each gear is impressive as the bike grips and rips after shifting. The 3.5 second 0-60 time is no joke. I haven't yet opened it up too much on the highway (haven't had it serviced yet) but it has no problem getting to 100 in little time.
As for the handling, the suspension is tight and the balance of the bike is so good that I almost forget I'm riding a motorcycle (I guess as opposed to floating??).
The digital display is pretty cool, with a bar readout of the odometer and an actual digital display for a fuel gauge.
The only aspect of the bike I marked down was comfort on longer rides. The frame and engine are the same as the Ninja 650R, and the seat is angled the same way. But the ER-6n's handle bars are raised so the rider is in an upright position. This causes the butt to sit at a different angle on the seat. It's still a nice ride until one stays on for more than a 30 mile stretch. Nothing a softer gel seat can't fix.

Great Ride

I just swithched from a 650 cruiser to the er-6n...WOW..what a difference. The torque is outstanding even in the low end. The bike looks great and is easy to handle. I am short and can easily reach the ground. Planning a 12 hour ride this month over the mountains...I can't wait. Starting is smo...oth and it is quick to idle. You owe it to yourself to try this bike! It is comfortable and handles great. Mirrors provide great vision behind you. Most bikes require changes when you buy them new....this one is perfect right out of the box. I recommend the Kawasaki ER-6n to all riders that want to have a great time on the road. My first bike in 15 years !

I've just taken possession of my ER-6N here in Edmonton Alberta and haven't been on a bike in 15 years, I'm 31 now.

The total cost to me was 7700.00 (Canadian dollars)

The stability of the machine is amazing. At no time did I ever feel that bike was to much to control. It has smooth acceleration,... good torque and the weight of the bike is something I believe the most novice of rider can manage.
I spent some time in a parking lot practicing hard stopping and felt the brakes performed very well. During breaking it wasn't an immediate stop with the feeling of about to go over the bars but a firm hold on the disc slowing the bike down with ease and control.
I've had it out on the roads and I have got quite a few looks already and even a few "nods" from other riders while at the traffic lights.
I'm looking forward to learning how capable this machine is as my experience grows.
I am VERY happy I chose this model as my entry bike to start ridding once again.
I have friends and family who ride and they also state I made a good choice with the model and engine size I've went with due to my low skill level.
This is a bike I can and will grow into. While many veteran riders will disagree with me due to this being a 650 power plant;
I highly recommend this bike to anyone looking for an entry motorcycle. Read Full Review

er6n 2008

bought my er6n new june 2008 have now done 8000miles. absolutely love the machine, does 75mpg riding within speed limits(60mph). 100% reliable, have fitted heated grips, gps, and replaced the dunlop d221 with roadsmart which are far better. If i replace it would most probably be another one. Read Full Review

Cool bike

Just bought the bike a week ago and so far I love it perfect size and power. It is more fun to ride a under powered bike then it is trying to control over powered bike. Read Full Review
