best bike I've ever owned!
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 15, 2012I've rode bikes since I was 16. I'm 50 now! At one time or another I've rode about all of them. The only issue this one has is it's hieght, but that can be fixed! When I rode my nieghbors, I knew what I wanted! klr650! Mines a 2007 model I bought used, and even though it's been treated rough it looks ... great! So I'm fixing all of whats wrong myself. I like to do my own work and am amazed at how simple it is! And that's a great quality when you're miles from help or civilization! I would'nt trade what I have for any bike out there! In my honest opinion, it's the best bike I've ever owned!

KLR650 is a great all around bike
By (I am an Owner) on Feb 16, 2010My friend asked me how much do I like the KLR. The answer was simple. Last year I put about 4000miles on my KLR which is more than I ever put on any bike in one year. Keep in mind that I do not ride to work or any commute. Half of those miles are off road miles. I rode 505miles in one day and ... did not feel sore the next day.
Around town the KLR is great. You can throw it into corners with very good control. On the highway it is lacking 6th gear and vibrates just like any other single cylinder bike. In the dirt it takes some getting used because of it's heavy weight to but I got comfortable with it over time.
Keep in mind that my riding style is rather aggressive. The KLR is my 6th bike. I also own an 06 R1 (my 7th bike)
Overall this is a great all-around bike. It is not great at anything particular (like my r1 is on the road) but good at anything you throw at it. I trailerd it once last year on a cold morning. I usually leave the house, ride on the pavement, ride through the woods, trails, get back on the pavement and ride home.

Fine Dual Sport
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 28, 2008The 2007 KLR650 continues the 20-plus years of design for the model. That's not a bad thing, either. The bike has been rock-solid reliable recording zero break-down issues with normal maintenance. It is simple to work on with lots of parts and aftermarket farkles available. Standard seat is wide ... and too soft. Seat width contributes to a tall ride height. Fuel capacity is enormous with recorded average fuel mileage 48 city and 57 highway in stock configuration. Suspension is weak with noticeable fork dive on braking. Recommend progressive springs and suspension upgrades. I'd ride it anywhere.
