This Bike's a Sleeper
By (I am an Owner) on Jul 13, 2012I love my Kawasaki Vulcan 500 LTD. I'm 5'7" and this bike fits me like a glove. The engine on this bike is a monster over 5,000 RPM. The engine is based off of Kawasaki's Ninja 500 engine and it is a sleeper. I have changed out the chain drive to a belt drive system from Scootworks and it has changed ... this bike into an amazing cruiser. I used to be at 5,000 RPM at 60 mph in sixth gear, after putting in the belt system I cruise at 4,000 RPM at 60 mph in sixth gear. This bike can keep up with the big boys. I use Royal Purple Max Cycle synthetic oil and engine ice in the cooling system and I consistently hit 59 to 60 miles per gallon. The best thing I enjoy on this bike is haow fast it accelerates, it's fun. The only problem that I have had with my bike is that the stock battery it came with had a cracked terminal and caused the bike to shut down. I replaced it with a Scorpian Gel Cell battery and I have not had any problems since. I recommend this bike to riders under 6' tall because of the bikes size. It has a great wheelbase on it and the reake on the forks is just right for going into corners. I replaced my stock tires with IRC Wild Flares and all I can say is WOW these tires are amazing. Great Bike for a great price.

Love my Kawi
By (I am an Owner) on Jan 25, 2009This is the first bike I've ever had, so it is hard to compare to other bikes. It isn't huge, so it was a good choice for a beginner rider. But isn't too small to take on the state roads for longish trips. I did have a problem with a solenoid and stalling but the warranty covered it and it was ... fine after it was in the shop. I like it well enough that I'd like my next bike to be a Vulcan 900. Sitting here in subzero weather in January in Wisconsin, I can't wait to be reunited with it again in a couple months!
