I bought this motorcycle when they first came out in 2014 the purchase price at that time was 19000 I had my issues along the way in through the years which Indian took care of quickly it came with a 5 year warranty unlimited mileage the radio controls are in a good location but I find buttons are ...

The windshield Mobility is a great option but again how to manipulate those buttons without pressing extremely hard. Minor issues that I'm able to adjust to.

My biggest complaint is the heat being generated from the right side of the exhaust system there's absolutely no way to ride this bike with shorts in South Carolina when the temperatures reach over a hundred degrees. Even with heavy jeans on I feel the heat on my leg.

I added the trunk in 2016 when it was available and it has been a great option for storage plus it makes the bike look that much better.

I've completed 3000 mile rides and the stock seat is only good for about an hour and 20 minutes of riding then you need to get off and rest.

Many times I will strip the bags off the bike and ride without them which is completely different and fun to drive.

Fuel mileage typically runs about 42 miles to a gallon but I've been as high as fifty depending on the gear roads and RPM. 6 gear at 2200 RPMs gives you about 61 miles per hour which seems to be the best at fuel mileage as well as a very comfortable ride.

The other major issue is belt squeak.

This seems to be a problem with 2014 to 2016 indian change the belt and pulleys to eliminate that issue, but I have to constantly keep the belt clean and Lube with a wax to keep the squeak away.

Other than those issues I've been happily riding my bike for 5 years now and enjoy getting on it and cruising down the road it took me about two years to get comfortable with cornering & tight turns but now I know what the bike can do and happily go to those limits. As a writer I've been on bikes for over 45 years and rode many different styles.

Although the Honda Goldwing is a excellent bike for long distance travels and has a myriad of options, the Indian is a great in between bike.

I haven't had any of the paint issues or power issues that's a newer bikes have is that people have reported on.

I'll keep riding this bike for the next five years and see how things go.

  • Great Bike
By  (I am an Owner) on Aug 13, 2014

I've owned my Chieftain since November 13 and have 9,000 miles on it. It runs great, handles outstanding on the highway and in traffic. The stock seat is comfortable as any aftermarket I've had. It's very smooth and easy to control. I use the cruise control daily easy to set. The audio controls ...

  • After 2500 (s)miles
By  (I am an Owner) on Apr 29, 2014

Just finished a 850 mile ride and am more sold than ever. Bike is so incredibly smooth and vibration free. Power is there is any gear with lots of low end torque. Seat is very comfortable and the adjustable windshield is great! After many years of riding I find this bike exceeds all my expectations. ...

By  (I am an Owner) on Jan 25, 2014

This bike is a work of art, thanks to Polaris. I will be purchasing a chieftain in the spring. My test drives of this bike and the Harley street glide find this bike to be just better quality all around, engine, transmission, aesthetics, brakes, performance, when you compare everything you get for ...
