Nice surprise
By Edgar (Owner), Dec. 4, 2009
I recently purchased this bike (Sep 09) for my daily conmuter and so far it has been a very reliable, steady, and forgiving little steed. In terms of performance, it has the necessary "ummph" to keep up with regular stop-and-go 55mph city traffic. And it can also cruise on the interstate a
...t a steady 80 mph with no drama. Again, this is a 250cc, and it has not been designed to win any race. Its max. horsepower is just 28. But the 5 speed v-twin DOHC 8 valve engine will not let you down. Other fellow riders I know with Comet 250s have ridden theirs over the 100 mph mark and have never experienced any flaws whatsoever. However this is something I do not recommend due to other issues like wind-bobbling, banking, etc which it was not designed to handle at those speeds. But if you really ask me, here's where the joint- venture with Suzuki for over 20 yrs has paid off.
In terms of style and appearance, people always ask me if it is a 600cc. That's because the 250 and 600 gt models share the same chassis, wheels, tank, and bars. There are many interchangeable accessories between these 2 models
Ride and comfort, in my opinion, are the only areas for improvement in this awesome package. The seat position is ok, considering naked bikes tend to make you tilt forward a bit. But the seat padding will wear down your butt after an hour of riding.
In terms of value, in my opinion, this is a no-brainer. I got my new 2009 gt250 with a proven"Suzuki technology" engine, 5 speed transmission, 2yr unlimited miles warranty, with a nice windscreen for just $3,499. In addition to that, Hyosung approved me with 0 down and 48 months. That is how agressive this company is to earn your business.
In summary, I definitely recommend this bike for new riders and also for riders that would like to have a spare bike at home. And in my opinion I think is a very viable alternative to the Kawasaki ninja 250 which people identify as the segment leader.
Thank you for reading and you all have a safe driving. Edgar.

My bike came with 2 mikuni carburators but the 2010 model comes with EFI and they're still under the $4,000 mark (as opposed to the ninja 250).
