2009 Honda Silverwing 600 ABS is a great maxi-scooter!

I've owned my new 2009 Honda Silverwing 600 ABS for about 7 months and am quite pleased.



It's well-built, powerful, stable, quiet, and reliable. (It's a Honda!).



'Was looking for a maxi-scooter with plenty of power; compared the Silverwing to the Burgman 400 and 650 which are also both great m...axi-scooters.

ABS brakes were mandatory for me; all three bikes can be ordered with ABS. (2009 Burgman 400 is the first year that ABS brakes are available.)

'Preferred the two-cylinder frame-mounted engine of the Silverwing over the single-cylinder swing-arm mounted engine on the Burgman 400, and I preferred the slightly smaller, narrower, and more agile Silverwing frame over the Burgman 650. All three are great maxi-scoots; just a matter of personal preference.

The Silverwing size/weight, price, and performance, place it somewhere between the Burgman 400 and 650. The Burgman 650 may be a better highway cruiser, but to me the Silverwing feels more manageable and agile at walking and lower speeds since it's a bit narrower and smaller.

I'm averaging about 50mpg and have added lots of accessories which bring the weight over 600 lbs - it's a heavy bike. I'm only 150 lbs and haven't dropped it yet, so with practice most people should be able to handle the weight which is only an issue at very low speeds or when walking or backing-up the bike - just try to always keep the bike perfectly vertical; if you let it lean while walking it, it's going down.

You'll find that most reviews choose the Burgman 650 over the Silverwing 600, but the Silverwing was the right choice for me. If you're over 6ft tall, the Burgman 650 may be a better fit since it appears to have more legroom than the Silverwing. Read Full Review

I've only had the silver wing one week,and 150 miles....but there's a

vibration noise when I slowly throttle

up to 3rpm's....then it stops making

noise.My diagnosis is a throttle problem,and will take it back to dealer

soon for a (hopefully) quick-fix!!!!

I traded my Yamaha Majesty 400cc for
for a larger engine.The majesty was an
'06 with only 6,000 miles on it.Yhe Silver Wing is slightly longer wheelbase
than the Yamaha,and 1- inch
shorter seat height,which I like,even
